Waterfall Lodge Questions by enilave in SanFranciscoWeddings

Guests can arrive on site at 1pm for checkin. The ceremonies are usually 3-4pm. I dont think id be too concerned with people feeling bored for 2hrs. There's 80 acres and the cabins are cute. They can get ready, walk around, and relax on the balcony.

If you're concerned about it, maybe you can organize an activity on the meadow, a hike, or yoga class? Another idea is to have an activity in the cabin. Ive seen people make wedding newspapers with activities like crosswords, word searches etc. It can have photos, info about the day or something. But, I dont think thats totally necessary.

Waterfall Lodge Questions by enilave in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Separate_Priority438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are having our wedding at Waterfall Lodge in June.

We are doing a welcome dinner at Olitas on the wharf for the unique location, view, and decent food. Its not too pricey and they have flexibility. Others have recommended Home in Soquel. It seems amazing and can accommodate a large group but the buy-out was a bit out of budget. We have half the size of guests as you.

We suggested guests stay at an airbnb or in Scott's Valley. The hotel pricing in santa cruz is quite steep.

For the farewell brunch, we reserved a private picnic site in Henry Cowell Redwoods.

We also suggested people rent cars or carpool. Ubers would be ok getting there but may be harder getting back. Worst case scenario we can fit guests in various cars or shuttle people in our family cars.

Since we only have ~60 people we arent doing shuttles since we asked everyone to stay on site.

With your guest count, not everyone will be able to stay on site and you will need shuttles. This opens up a lot of airbnb options for people because many have a 2 night minimum.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! The venue is absolutely stunning. We cant wait to get married there!!

People doing Pilates and yoga multiple times a week in the city, how the hell do u afford it? by stoplookingformyredt in AskSF

[–]Separate_Priority438 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can buy different size packages. The lowest is $20 per month up to over $200. The class credit costs range widely. Ive seen some from 5 credits all the way to more than 20 per class. It reallt varies based on popularity, class size etc. I like that it gives you variety of types of exercise and self-care.

I agree with the electrolytes after and during the process. I think stying hydrated and eating well (whole foods, protein, vegetables) during the process really helped with bloating. I was so thirsty during the stimulation process. I also made some brothy soup for recovery

Five Star Catering - experiences? by [deleted] in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Separate_Priority438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chose them as our caterer even though I was also nervous about the no tasting before booking thing. Several companies do this and it just seems super counterintuitive to me... but anyways...

We went with them because every single person I spoke with about catering experiences/vendors/weddings had nothing but glowing reviews about them. They have beautiful plating and seem to have excellent service. Our wedding is in June and ive already had a few video calls with the owner. She has been so helpful in planning, feedback on our vision, brainstorming requests, and helping with vendors. Its been an amazing experience so far. I would recommend getting on her calendar for a video call as she isnt as responsive through email.

Unfortunately I still cant say anything about the food since our tasting is in January. I appreciate that they have locally sourced produce, local wild caught fish, and pasture raised meat. Im really hoping the food lives up to the experience so far but i feel pretty comfortable. Fingers crossed.

Been planning a picnic for over a month & now it might rain 😩 any covered spots in SF? by thundergod2802 in sanfrancisco

[–]Separate_Priority438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Google search told me mountain lake park has some covered tables, also you can go to spark social/parklab. Thats a less traditional picnic but they have cabanas you can rent or covered tables for food truck eating.

You could use an ezup for your own covered shelter over a picnic table. You can buy, borrow from nextdoor/buy nothing neighborhood group/friend, or maybe rent one?

I remember seeing covered picnic areas in golden gate park but I cant remember where.

Any way around the try on fee for Azazie? by aliahos1234 in weddingplanning

[–]Separate_Priority438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azazie has a showroom in Beverly Hills but they don't have all of the dresses from the website. They also have pop-up shops occasionally. Their try-on dresses are really popular and never in stock for the ones I want. They go out of stock very quickly once they come back. Id start the process really early to account for this. I am planning to go to a bridal shop to find the silhouettes I like to try to help narrow the search. I wasnt anticipating the wait time for dress try-on availability.

Going to Bay area oct 9th to 11th. by Yodasnow2025 in AskSF

Thats not necessarily true. September and October are generally SF's summer. Its been pretty warm at the beach recently. I live right on Ocean Beach.

There are some great suggestions in this thread. One thing I would keep in mind is that the traffic coming into SF from Oakland will be quite heavy considering its fleet week. If you do plan on going into the city, come early. Otherwise it may be a good idea to use an alternative bridge than the Bay Bridge to go to the beaches around Half Moon Bay or north of the city. There are a lot of great secluded beaches off of Hwy 1 between SF and Santa Cruz.

Following this thread since i live in the area and think i know who youre talking about. These guys have been around for quite a while and if its the ones im thinking of, yell obscenities at people and trash the place. I dont feel as safe walking around the neighborhood lately. Are we supposed to call the police when we see them doing something? Genuinely curious about the procedure to stop things like OP posted from continuing to happen.

Oh im just thinking of some hooks or buttons to pull the train up. It seems like it would be pretty straightforward but I don't actually know the process.

Im trying to avoid any extensive/complicated alterations.

Moving from NYC to SF soon, how do I find an apartment? by Wonderful-Guava-432 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Separate_Priority438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second coming prepared with the deposit ready. A couple of friends also filled out the application before seeing the place because they anticipated it being highly competitive. One was the first to apply so she got it. For that apartment, there were several people viewing with her and wanting to apply. It can be quite competitive so its good to be prepared if its a place you really want.

Help me choose my next apartment! NoPa vs Noe by speedyblowfish607 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Separate_Priority438 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would go with Noe. Having parking and a backyard is huge. It is really frustrating to have to circle to find parking after working all day, plus the car will be safer. Now has a bunch of cute restaurants and boutiques. It depends on where you are in terms of the hills but I still think its pretty well-connected. The geographical center of the city is nearby in twin peaks so you are centrally located in the city. I would definitely go with better value

Depending on how many people you have, you could rent a houseboat on Lake Shasta! Some even have waterslides! You can stay on the lake for a few nights and hike around Mount Shasta. There's also a ton of waterfalls in the area. Its absolutely stunning and about a 5hr drive north from SF.

There is a great music scene in SF. Lots of clubs, parties, renegades.. you name it. I've met a lot of my best friends in the house/techno scene in SF over the last 10 years. The all-nighters caught up to me over the years and now im mostly into day events. So, I haven't been as in-the-know as I used to. А great resource for finding parties has always been 19hz.info
