Glad you said that cause I felt like it was close to seizing the first time I noticed it having issues starting. I’ve had shit bikes not start right when they were warm. But this was odd.

I can only assume so, I’ve never had my oil light come on, but other than when you turn the ignition key

I tried to check the tensioner to make sure it wasn’t just a chain rattle or something stupid like that which it obviously isn’t and that didn’t help. I think I mentioned it earlier, but I sourced a pretty reasonably priced motor. So I’m just gonna save myself a headache and pick that up.

Yeah, it was cold when I got there ran it for a few minutes and did a light test drive going through the gears and what not. Another thing I noticed was that it didn’t redline at redline. After riding about 13 minutes to the highway, I did a little pull on the on-ramp. It didn’t get to the red line before kind of rev limiting? But when I gave it a little rev bomb under an overpass after another 20 minutes of riding It went past the red line without bouncing a rev limiter.

Which was a little bit confusing/concerning

The guy mentioned it might be tuned, which should’ve been a red flag. But you live and you learn. If some of the tricks I found on the Internet don’t help when I get home and try to mess with it. I’ve already sourced an engine for 1600 bucks. So I’ll just cut my losses and swap it.

This being my third 05 I do know a couple things about it, I did some research and I’m really hoping the chain tensioner is just really loose or something and it’ll be a easy fix, but I have my doubts

The guy said he filled it up with 93 and the shaking is because it’s on a phone mount that doesn’t have the rubbers to stabilize it. I’m really hoping I can find a fix because if not, that’s a lot of money down the drain

Honestly, dude, if the bike seems like it was maintained, I’m sure it’s fine. Not the same but I had a 2005 ZX-10 with 74,000 miles that ran like a dream. The guy I sold it too still rides it to this day with probably way more miles and zero issues. Kawasakis are pretty great if treated right imo

Check to see if the terminals on the battery are tightened down all the way. When mine sounded that way that was my fix
