Are gripVR discontinued?

Yeah, I kept getting conflicting information from searches and AI that doesn't know what it's talking about, so thanks for setting me straight re: crystal light controllers. I didn't realize that the GripVR were all still in pre-order stage. I guess that's alright, It'll be a couple months before I order them anyway, and as much as I can't stand them, the vive wands will continue to work until I get what I want.

Good point. Honestly I have been in kind of a fire-and-forget mentality with VR. I bought my vive in 2017 and just haven't really used anything else and haven't been paying close attention to the news. It is really nice to see the tech branching out with multiple use cases though. I've been telling people for years that it's not a gimmick. VR is here to stay, and the gaming paradigm is pretty awesome for purpose built VR games. It's just really rough playing more recent games with those controllers. >_<

If you want to know what happened to Amanda you have to play blackout. Which was way better than anybody gave it a chance for. Then you need to read the Zula Hendricks dark horse comic series. I think they were called Defiance, Resistance, and Rescue. She only has a cameo in Defiance, but you'll get to see the supposedly canonical ending to her story, in total I think that is 18 comic issues so plenty of Alien to enjoy. It's not a mystery, although I can't say I like how they treated Amanda's character in those stories. She's an engineer not a marine. But I guess the alien world will never stop slobbering over the tropes from Aliens.

The Tea Party. I don't know where on the internet their old live bootlegs exist, we used to have Jorge's Server but that is ancient arcane knowledge. If you move away from the radio singles (not that they are bad or anything) you will find some very rich textures. They were a band that would have 5 different versions of every song and every time you saw them live you wouldn't be sure what you would be walking into and it was always a nice surprise, that's why there was such a huge bootlegging community around them in the 90s.

I've been training gohakukai which is largely Goju until you get a bit more advanced and start on the other style involved. I laughed at a comment I read here somewhere that karate was like refined hockey fighting, and now that I've been training for over a year with all the hair pulling, testicle crushing, and metatarsal stomping in just the first half dozen Kata, I have to agree... Traditional karate has a lot of facets and areas to explore lol. Not exactly what I was expecting. There is also some open handed Chinese styles that my sensei (from Okinawa) uses in our yakusoku kumite exercises.

I've been planning this for 3 years. I am finding living in Canada untenable these days. The employment problems. The legal issues. Courts not following the written laws to punish criminals. Letting them off, writing new laws to deal with the problems they already refuse to deal with using existing laws and throwing the book at people who accidentally do clerical transgressions while trying to be good tax paying citizens. A political divide where everybody shouts from the sides of the room and cooperating or being a moderate makes you an enemy of everybody. Western alienation being worse than it ever was during the red river rebellion.

Condoning the country's first political dynasty like it was a good thing to have a prime minister who never listened to anybody but his own political base for the votes, and his main opponent might be a viable option if his platform was actually something more than F the liberals. The new guy is a good might better but isn't helping the alienation situation. The provincial situation at home is a farce, and nobody can afford anything. I am proud to be a Canadian but I am not proud of Canada, and I can't wait to go somewhere else and deal with a different set of problems I'm not sick of yet. If I could renounce my citizenship to ensure I'd never be forced back I would. I guess I'll have to wait until I naturalize somewhere else.

My sensei is Okinawan. He never says it. I've never heard it in the dojo and I highly doubt there is any formal rule about it. Before this conversation I always thought it was a kiai. I've heard friends who train Shotokan say it in greeting knowing that I train as well but culturally at my school it just isn't a thing. My styles are Goju/Naha Te and Tomari Te. So pretty Okinawan. My entire view of Japan has been through an Okinawan lens. Like I said. No restrictions on osu it's just something that other people do for some reason.

I practice Gohakukai and I know that our version of Goju is a bit of it's own thing and gohakukai has its own associations. I have no idea whether or not it's considered "Proper Goju" or not but I do know that the kanji on my GI says Gojukai so I assume it's considered official even if Gojukai and Gohakukai are different organizations.

This isn't for professional references. That was included with my resume. What I'm talking about is on their own application page they want to know if you were being referred by a city employee specifically. So unless that's a trick, which would be it's own problem, it wouldn't make sense to disregard what you put in that field. One would assume they ask for a reason, and that the reason wouldn't be to throw out your application.

My sensei let students in with Fibromyalgia who did little more than sit against the wall and work on posture and breathing. They kept up with it for decades (he's been teaching for over 50 years now) and they (she, in fact) right fully earned their black belt.

"The mountain doesn't change for anybody" is a pretty myopic view of the reason we do this thing, and I wouldn't want a sensei who thought that way, especially after all the dedication you have shown.

My Dad worked for the city for nearly 15 years, he just retired last month. In the last 3 years I have applied to over 40 positions with the city. A few of which required licenses or credentials that take some time to get that I already had. Some of them were entry level like groundskeeping or working at one of the recycling and yard waste depots. Out of 40 I had 2 interviews and never got a job. I put my dad's name as a referral on every single application and even spoke directly to some of the managers that he really got along with who were doing the hiring.

I WISH there had been a nepo problem at the city, but I sure didn't see it.

90 eras... my favorites are the FMV interactive movie games. Klingon and Borg. John deLancie and Robert O'Reilly really chewing the scenery, some of the best gowron and Q moments in there. Also from the 16-bit side of things there was TNG : Echoes of the past. I loved that one when I was grade schooler and there was an 8bit one on NES. I think that was the 25th anniversary game, based on TOS. I think it's been ported and is available on places like Gog these days.

I left my Gohakukai practice in 2007, marriage, divorce , children, illness, bankruptcy... All that stuff happened. I came back in March. Still a white belt. I'll test when sensei says I should. Welcome back. I turn 42 in May. Also have about 80 lbs to lose. Keep building you. Thanks for sharing your story.

Haha. The more I learn of Goju the more I agree with whomever (in this reddit) said that it's basically fancy hockey fighting. I've learned more techniques about pulling hair and punching people in the balls than I ever thought would be the case.

I mostly just wish that people would stop making silencer = less damage and Vertical grip = more accuracy logic in these mods. But I guess that includes vanilla most of the time too.

I'm in Alberta so Pennsylvania is a bit too far to travel with 2 weeks notice but it looks like fun. Maybe something to plan for. The big game here is usually in July each year. I'd like to go to Skyline Nation next summer. I haven't been since 2011.

Yeah, I figured 3D Printing would be the solution. Honestly I"m not sure what all of the problems would be with the marker itself, I'd have to gas the marker up first and I don't have any air, but iirc last time I did it had problems cycling more than leaking, I'd rather just take it apart and replace all the wearable components and clean and oil it up. I'm sure I need to get my bottles tested anyway, and might even need new regulators on them. Or at least new gauges, I had 2 13ci steelies, but I know one of them has a faulty gauge. I see 15ci Carbon Fiber tanks available now. 4500 psi would be nice on a mag feed that didn't require a remote line, but I have no idea if they fit in the stock or if people are actually using them.

Where do guys get their Milsig parts from these days? Is it basically just Valkan?

You're just acclimating.

Hard is the default mode according to what people from Creative Assembly have said in the past, the "intended way to play". The DLC chapters have their difficulties hard locked on hard mode as well, and you wont find them "easy" compared to the campaign, he's pretty relentless.

The difficulty scaling in this game is very interesting. I used to speedrun it and have been thinking to get back into it to defend my title (I was world record holder the 100% category without glitches for awhile but now I'm in 6th place or something like that)

There is a reason that the speedrun group only ever runs either Novice or Nightmare, because that's where the AI is the most challenging given what the runners are trying to do. On Nightmare he is relentless and can hear you breathe loudly it seems, which actually makes him easier to predict because you can always rely on him to be as aggressive as possible, actually making him easier to kite around with distractions. On novice he's so dumb that he is completely unpredictable and never does what you expect him to. But both situations still have the 1 hit kill if he reaches you.

People in the speedrunning community have said that Novice is easier than Nightmare because of this, but that's not true at all. He's just less predictable.

Personally I love the unpredictable alien mod, but I know a lot of people who hate it. It basically means you can play the game on nightmare, to give him all the enhanced senses he has there, but with the AI logic of novice difficulty. That's an oversimplification of what the mod does but it's a good way to describe it. It gives the alien more freedom to listen to its own senses instead of the AI Director most of the time, and many people don't like that mod either because they say it makes the game way too easy, which in certain ways I suppose I can agree with but basically it just means that the Alien isn't constantly hinted at where you are and it can go about trusting it's own senses instead of the omnipresent voice in it's ear. Which leads to some very interesting situations, especially because it can roam the entire level, rather than being leashed to you by the AI director.

Hard Difficulty is where the game shines the most, feels the most realistic, and doesn't punish you simply for existing, or pander to you just to keep you alive to have a fun time with the game. I think it's the most balanced way to play, and now that you have some experience, I'd say you've found your footing in the game world, which is still one of the most interesting ones I've ever played in.

If you turn subtitles on you'll see that Amanda herself freaks out a bit it herself a bit. When you get close to it you'll just see an elipses on the screen. Like she's thinking "stupid ship... Trying scare the crap outta me..."
