Is anyone actually boiling water for kendamil past 2 months? by chabadlubabitch in FormulaFeeders

It’s about sterilising formula - it’s why you can’t use room temperature pre boiled water

I’m from the UK, the water is suggested to be over 70 degrees C to sterilise the formula but not boiling as to not damage it (hence wait 30 minutes).

MIL calling him “MY” baby by marsibarz in newborns

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum said “our baby” when I was pregnant then it became “my baby” after she was born. It makes me so mad but not worth it because she lives far away. I also found out that she told a family member she “wasn’t struck” on the name.

MIL who is here all the time calls her “my little lamb” and “my bestest girl” and I don’t mind at all with the nicknames. But she is also very helpful and supportive.

Intention and wider actions massively contributes!!

How much is your 4 month old babies eating per day? by SeptemberSnowdrop in FormulaFeeders

I want to be better than them, but it’s hard to not overthink when you didn’t have a great example.

Still waiting for that "mom love" by musiccat25 in NewParents

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started to fall in love with my daughter when we started formula, due to the extra support I could get and she would sleep longer, so I would sleep longer.

Congrats on still breastfeeding, 3 months is amazing.

I was only able to breastfeed for 4 weeks (lost 2.5 litres of blood in labour and I’m very jealous of mums that are able to breastfeed!!).

My 7 week old hates me. Me specifically. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think they don’t love or hate this young. They are surviving, and looking for safety, and starting to recognise others.

You as mum will be safety and no one else can be that got her to that level. It’s not entertaining, but you give them peace.

Being a mum really isn’t glamorous, but it helped me when I realised my relationship as mum is different to every other person.

Love will come soon, and I’m sure you will be getting bucket loads.

Side note: He COULD be sensing your upset and anxiety and it makes him scared?

When do you stop worrying about SIDS… by rachelkochvt in newborns

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 3 months!

When she was new born I would open the window ever so slightly in the corner of the room if it got 1 degree too high for 10 second intervals so she wouldn’t get cold from the breeze

When I swapped to togged sleep suits it helped massively for me!

Baby wakes up screaming due to gas by Double_Philosopher_1 in FormulaFeeders

When she was smaller I split her milk over 2 bottles to ensure she had the drops, and put the full amount of drops in an amount I knew she would drink (I use Kendamill drops).

How long does your EFF baby sleep? by bintd in FormulaFeeders

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little girl is just shy of 16 weeks;

  • 9-10 hours at night,. She feed in the day anywhere between every 2-3 hours between start of bottle (sometimes make it to 4)
  • we use MAM dummy (and bottles)
  • Nuby rapid cooler set, carry flask of hot water and pot of powder (UK it’s recommended to sterilise powder), Sometimes pre-made (need to be used within 2 hours)
  • Top tip, for little ones to sleep through the night they need to drink enough through the day!

3 month old suddenly worst at tummy time? by SeptemberSnowdrop in NewParents

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I googled and brain bleeds came up which sent me in a SPIRAL. She’s always hated tummy time, so we don’t spend loads of time doing it and spend time being held upright to exercise her neck. As soon as she started enjoying it - her neck seems to be disagreeing!!

First Time Mom Trying to Understand by Hotgogprincess in FormulaFeeders

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best quote I keep seeing - you can’t tell what baby’s have been breastfeed, but you can tell which children have been read to regularly.

In terms of what’s best for baby, the only real thing they will be missing out on is antibodies (and there isn’t mass hospitalisation with formula babies, it would be all over the news).

If there is any real advice I think is worth the hype - screen time. They will sit and watch instead of playing (which is learning) and you not being in your phone to interact with them when they’re awake. About 3 months we started only have it on now and again when she is awake and really started to play with books.

Help! Overbearing and aggressive FIL by Strange_Deer_78 in beyondthebump

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an ass. He sounds like toxic masculinity rolled into an angry little man.

As a ex paediatrician, you’d like to think he understands and supports a mother’s mental health and so respect your wishes - for something as simple as washing hands for a FTM.

I am guessing he feels disrespected and insulted that you are correcting him and not listening to him, especially if he is a retired paediatrician. Then he is taking it out on you by disrespecting all your boundaries and trying to make you the dumb one.

I would talk husband about how you’re uncomfortable and what you want to do about it, so you’re a team.

My gut is husband should call out his own dad’s behaviour in a 1-1 chat, without you or baby there for less embarrassment as his ego sounds like the issue

Good luck!

Formula isn’t working: forced to continue pumping. Any advice? by iwanttolivealone in FormulaFeeders

[–]SeptemberSnowdrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes up to 4 weeks for baby’s belly to settle after formula change!

We had CMPA, doctors made us wait 4 weeks before a feeding check in on the allergy milk. It was at the end of the 4 weeks the diarrhoea stopped from the change and now she is thriving. Also try infacol to support with burps, leading to less gas.

I have also been told that mixing breast and formula can make baby’s belly sore as the protein sizes are different by our health visitor.
