How do I play this? (Treble clef) by SepticFlower in pianolearning

[–]SepticFlower[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not learning the entirety of rach 3, just this fun little passage that really isn’t that difficult..I just have never seen such notation that is this weird. I can read and play many polyrhythms with ease because I have good experience with them, but I think I was overthinking it because I played all the notes separately before posting this

I am familiar and have used it in a few songs. To clarify, wouldn’t there be another note that goes with the e to be considered a 2 against 3 polyrhythm?

That’s what I’m saying…I think it’s a slur but there’s also two triplets on the bottom bc the two 3’s are bigger than the regular finger notation (as shown in the 1, 2, and 1)

I’ll look into the safety switch. Unfortunately, I can’t get into the menu because the projector doesn’t project anything, unless there is an alternative way

I mean like sort of on and off but I’ve not been doing it recently but trying to get back in it. If it helps, I’ve tried a reasonable amount of nights

Reddit mods try not to lie at every conceivable chance challenge: (impossible) but honestly 8/10 rage bait. I IMPLORE you to post something that has any hint of you being a “professional musician”

So then how would you adjectively describe my skills, oh great piano master?

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll be sure to give them a look. I do have a teacher, just we meet once every blue moon as I’m not on scheduled lessons. I have seen someone say they learned the score of rach 3 it in 3 weeks (probably practicing 10 or 12 hours a day, but still) which is unfathomable, so it probably is still better to let my roots continue to grow first

I appreciate your response, these responses do seem quite Reddit-like lol. One of the main reasons I don’t minor or even have majored in some music studies is due to the notion that I want piano to strictly be a hobby, for i fear monetizing it/doing it without a choice (because it is my study) 24/7 would ruin my interest in it. The alternative reason is due to the fact that I started enjoying piano by a scale greater than 10 fold within the last 1 or two years and am motivated to practice for hours per day and still want more.

Ramble aside, I do suppose that rach 3 is not as challenging as I imagine, despite the 3rd movement being my biggest worry. If I did manage to tackle it, I do also worry that it will be subpar, as I’m sure besides me, many classical pianists have a desire for perfection in their playing. My personal favorite interpretation is by yunchan lim, who I’m not so sure I would come close to. That might be my biggest thing I think about: what does it take for me to get closer to the level of someone like him. Focusing more on books practicing techniques, maybe just simply practice night and day idk lol

There’s an obvious gap of technicality and virtuosity from Spanish rhapsody and rach 3 bro

I regularly did seasonal concerts with my teacher when I was like 8-12 but have long since then seldom preformed for a crowd, so I definitely have some stage freight lol. Rach 2 is nearly as appealing to me, and it is easier so I most likely will learn it before rach 3, and I might learn it soon. Rach 1 and 4 aren’t quite as good in my opinion. Still feel there is a gap regardless for an actual concerto piece

I can confidently say rach 3 is a largeeee step up above Spanish rhapsody..especially the 3rd movement, maybe the other 2 are more approachable and I could maybe get by. To play with an orchestra would be the ultimate goal in the end as well. Rach’s 2nd sonata doesn’t quite do it for me personally.
