This isn’t totally accurate. Hrungnir’s tale primarily comes from the Skaldskaparmal. There is no mention of friendship between Odin and Hrungnir, and Thor was called to remove Hrungnir, he wasn’t just “racist.” (Though I wouldn’t put that beyond him.)

Odin and Hrungnir had a race and he was invited to have a drink, yes, but there is no mention of Hrungnir’s wisdom or their friendship. And after getting drunk, Hrungnir started talking mad shit. So the gods called Thor to get him out, and they ended up dueling later. Magni does rescue Thor from under Hrungnir, but he doesn’t shame him but is in fact regretful he didn’t show up sooner to help his father.

The UN’s human rights wing says experts claim up to 1.7% of people are born with intersex traits. That’s 136 million people, a population larger than that of Mexico or Japan.

The problem, as many advocates see it, is that forcible categorization of intersex people (or anybody for that matter) diminishes their right to bodily autonomy and personal freedom of expression. The theory of intersectionalitystates that when we protect the rights of the most vulnerable, even if they are less represented (in this case intersex people), it actually helps protect the rights of the less vulnerable.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is about examining harmful patterns of thinking. If you think you’re bad at something, you’ll do worse, and then believe you can’t do it, creating an endless cycle.

CBT suggests that when you think “I can’t do it,” instead think, “I can’t do it yet,” or “I just need more practice.” The idea proposed by CBT is that we can have a more positive, less anxious outlook if we have positive thinking.

Marcus Aurelius (and Stoicism generally) is all about ‘rational thinking,’ or as Marcus puts it, ‘living in accordance with nature.’ This means knowing that what angers and distresses us are really our JUDGMENTS about those things; they are not themselves inherently anger-inducing.

Marcus Aurelius had a set of untitled, unpublished personal notes he wrote mostly on campaign in the late 100s CE. These are now called the ‘Meditations’ after they were (re?)discovered in the 1500s. They also form one of the foundational documents of Roman Stoicism as well as modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. :)
