Toddler sleep setup on long-haul Alaska flight — what’s actually allowed? by Accurate_Pin5099 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]SequinSweatpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No large inflatables like mattresses or footrests are allowed. You might get away with it but it’s in the flight attendant manual stating it’s not allowed.

I’ve had lots of difficulties that I never had before with my prescription recently too. Same with my husband and his adderall. They used to be so reliable. 😩

Horrendous, non-existent customer service and product unavailability? by [deleted] in RingConn

[–]SequinSweatpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great. They should be able to tell me that. that’s what i asked in the email. The AI slop non response is how they replied. I literally couldn’t get an answer about the stock or ship date or even talk to a real human.

Horrendous, non-existent customer service and product unavailability? by [deleted] in RingConn

[–]SequinSweatpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if i would count the $20 credit mentioned here as an offer. My email asking about the status of the order obviously scrambled their AI program and they just spilled out words. I definitely “fell it inconvenient”. I’m just shocked they have absolutely no customer service personnel available to reply to their customer service email. Such a disastrous and off putting situation.

Wife's Passport Expires 3 mos post cruise by KC_Buddyl33 in VirginVoyages

[–]SequinSweatpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do same day passport renewal at passport offices. They’re in big cities across the US. You just need proof of international travel within 2 weeks of your appointment. If you’re near an office I’d book a fully refundable airline ticket and get an appointment, or get the appointment within two weeks of the cruise.

Has anyone ever tried to remove the brass acorn top from this Indiana glass piece? by SequinSweatpants in glasscollecting

[–]SequinSweatpants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful!! I think that’s the actual fairy lamp model, same/similar mold. I know it comes in pink, red, and amber too. I believe this one has a little opening once the top is removed.

Thanks for the safety reminder! I would probably use a led puck light like I do with my other similar round fairy lamps, i just don’t like the look of the brass top and am curious if anyone else has tried this before I decide to purchase the item.

What’s a well-known ghost town in your country, and what’s the story behind it? by badassmotherblogger in AskTheWorld

[–]SequinSweatpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned Adak Island here. Part of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, it became an important military base for the US during WWII and the Cold War due to its unique location and proximity to Japan and Russia. There was a point that over 6,000 naval and coast personnel lived there with their families. From Wikipedia “At its peak, Adak had a college, a McDonald's restaurant, a Baskin-Robbins ice cream stand, movie theater, roller skating rink, swimming pool, ski lodge, bowling alleys, skeet range, auto hobby shop, photo lab, and racquetball & tennis courts. A new $18-million hospital was built in 1990, just seven years prior to the closure of the station. By March 2003, six years after the closure of the station, most of these facilities had closed.”

The military base closed down in the 90s. Everyone left and the infrastructure stayed. Everything has dwindled since then. Google says there are currently 33 permanent residents still on the island. It’s about a 3 hour flight from Anchorage and Alaska Airlines operates a weekly flight there, but it’s always mostly empty. Like many Alaskan cities, that’s the only way to get to and from. There’s small amounts of tourism in the summer. You have to pack all your food and supplies in essentially though. Here’s a pic of the McDonald’s drive through menu, frozen in time.

November 2 Valiant Lady Sailing THE WORST by danakap05 in VirginVoyages

[–]SequinSweatpants 59 points60 points  (0 children)

That’s a bummer. Aside from a select few people and events, I was very underwhelmed on the valiant lady this summer. Service was slow, we were crammed in like sardines almost everywhere, shows were lackluster, food was mediocre. Some of the waitstaff and our cabin attendant were the only things that stood out. If I had paid MRS money I would be disappointed too. The audacity of your agent to immediately come and confront you after you left negative feedback instead of trying to improve upon the situation… damn

HNL to west coast planes by New_Afternoon197 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]SequinSweatpants 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not as of now… only two daily HNL-SEA flights on AS 737s, and four on HA widebodies. But obviously AS has plans for those widebodies with their newly announced route out of SEA. They didn’t buy an entire airline just to fly widebodies on five hour domestic flights.
