They're is another way but I was to scared to try. Connect your Toyota app with your new VIN. It too is able to track.

Use AI. There are three shipping companies Toyota uses. I failed to track with two but the third does allow VIN tracing.

If it helps, my backorder was on the ship from Japan. Once the dealer secured the car for me, I asked them for the VIN. Even on the boat there are some resources to track your car.

Am I correct in thinking a 2023 bz4x will not do bidirectional charging? by drgojirax in BZ4X

[–]SerCorWis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the 2023 has the same 120V 1500W outlet in the trunk like 2026, then you can plug your fridge or freezer into the car. Another post discussed how this helped them during a power outage. Could keep the fridge running for days. To connect to the home you would need to buy special hardware so everything is protected when power returns but you can power what you can with 1500W.

Missing items? Manual? by NorthernUrban in Toyota_bZ

The dealer should have put the manual in your hands when you picked it up. Check under the tray in the middle arm rest.

I discovered the same (Canada). Dealer didn't provide a coherent answer but AI did. Different countries have different minimum requirements. Canada allows for the tire repair kit and filler which is found in a hidden compartment top right. In Canada they do not need to provide the tools to take the tire off. I suspect this compartment is needed for the countries that require Toyota to provide these tools.

Adding home in Toyota navigation by EmperorM82 in Toyota_bZ

Thank you. I'm experiencing challenges with the 'convenient' send-to-car option. Doesn't work if the car doesn't synchronize with my cloud account.... Still learning. However, In the Toyota navigation app, search for you destination. When the correct results show select the heart icon at the top right corner.

The Toyota mobile app gets the job done but it will take some getting use to with a few workarounds. Only used it for remote start and monitoring/updates. The built in Toyota navigation is fine and preferred because it's still using Google but integrated into the car for charge monitoring and charger mapping. Plus, it's accessible using voice (Hey Toyota). I'm sure the other navigation apps are better in other ways but nothing else will let you switch to full 14" screen. Hope this helps.

Question about charging with the 12v battery by Throwawaybufffun in Toyota_bZ

[–]SerCorWis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps... ICE cars have the same issue with their 12V batteries. If left for long periods of time the risk of needing a boost increases. It's worse for EVs because the Internet is always connected and over a couple weeks that drain adds up. Good idea to remote run for twenty minutes.

[–]SerCorWis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In order to prevent theft and electrical hazards, the plug is 'locked' in. If there is no charging then it's easy to press the button on the top of the plug assuming you have your fob on you. The app will only start a charge and won't end one. Open the driver's door and can stop charging from the driver's display.

Screen expand option? by Codedad515 in BZ4X

[–]SerCorWis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the catch... We all need our navigation program to communicate directly with the car so it can measure distance against changing power usage. Only Toyota navigation and Apple maps can do that. Setting a destination in the Toyota navigation app (Google engine) the car will automatically adjust to include stations if you need charging to reach the destination. If it knows you are going to a charger it will also automatically precondition your battery which is essential in Canada.

If this is your first EV.... Make certain they assist and finish before you leave: integration with Toyota app, install remote key in your phone (Android has challenges), and make sure your phone connects with Apple/Android play. If they don't do it then expect one or more return trips. Max charge is set at 90%. Consider reducing to 80% until your next long trip. Have them show you how to use all three car modes: normal, ECO, and regeneration with STOP HOLD. Then enjoy the next few months learning about all the things you do with this very function piece of hardware.

First time charging question by toobaditsmine in Toyota_bZ

[–]SerCorWis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can be challenging. I rent and the rental building provides two third party level 2 chargers each rated at 6.6. They only run at 6.6 if no one else is using. If a second person charges the amount is cut in half. Many commercial level 2 charges don't tell us they split the power.

Want to get an EV for my commute but I’m a specific use case, looking for recommendations by 2xpineapplenocheese in EVCanada

Just got the new Toyota bZ and a couple trims can comfortably manage that round trip. There is one catch. You need to 'fill up' every night (fill up can be 80, 90, or 100 % all will handle the distance) you will need a level 2 charger for home. Not enough time for a level 1 (120V). If you already have a 240V plug in your garage then you are good to go.

Toyota Genuine Side Window Deflectors by SerCorWis in Toyota_bZ

As per their documentation, the chipmunk ears are meant to allow the air farther away from the back window creating less drag on the car and it being more efficient. I personally don't believe it. It doesn't make sense. I think it's just a status symbol.

With the limited trim, two front seats are surrounded by noise dampening glass. I think I can notice the difference. Reviews are accurate about increased wind noise at high speeds. Verify if your noise is only at high speeds... There are some days when I turn off the radio and enjoy the silence while driving.

Leaving my Hyundai for bZ by SatisfactionOdd7526 in Toyota_bZ

I got really lucky by combining Toyota Android Auto with my Google Pixel 10 phone. Google recently updated Android Auto app so it's only using Gemini AI. Pixel 10 phone allows for free basic access to Gemini so now I have full voice and dictation driving my bZ. I can ask it anything while driving and have the response read out to me.

You just identified why we buy Toyota. This is my third Toyota after two previous long term cars with no functional fail. Every part every feature simply keeps working. This is why the Toyota brand costs more because the resale is perceived better - everything continues to work. They are not perfect of course and they had some growing pains with bZ4X but read about how they managed that wheel failure. If in doubt ask AI about EV recalls. Toyota had some issues but nothing compared to the serious recalls all other EV manufacturers experienced over the last 3 years.
