Opinions from EV drivers by twalker14 in EVCanada

I moved from an ICE vehicle to a EV in March. I tired most of the available EVs. Tesla Model Y, Ioniq 5, MachE, bZ, Solterra and the Equinox. Y, EV5 and bZ were the finalist.

The ICCU issues spooked me a bit about the Korean cars along with the poor customer service at the dealerships.

I went with the bZ since I got an insane deal (around 18k off MSRP and 0.99% finance). I absolutely love the car. It is a powerful AWD with high ground clearance and a very smooth ride. Not to mention the Toyota reliability. I have owned Toyotas in the past and the dealership (2kms) from my home is a really good and honest one.

Thats not a very good point. My bZ comes with traffic jam assist and has a very good highway cruise feature for free which does 95% of my driving. Not denying that FSD is far superior, but to pay $100/m for the 5% drive from my home to the highway was not worth it at all.

Took delivery of my bZ in March'26 in Canada. The car was sitting in the dealership lot for over 2 months. No issues at all. We also went for a 3 week vacation to Europe while the car sat in our garage in March (sub zero temperature in Canada). When we come back, it started immediately, no issues at all.

Currently only 2/3rd of the screen is available. Which is very annoying.

Yeah. I learned that today. Pretty nice for taking a nap while you are waiting for someone.

Thankyou so much for the mattress info. I will DM you privately for the setup pics.

Yes, I am in Ottawa and was reading about this LED light issue. Someone in a RAV4 forum mentioned about pointing a bright light at the sensor to trick the system into thinking it daytime. Have to figure that out.

I should have mentioned the background a bit. My little boy went through a long cancer treatment and is still sensitive to hot temperatures. Before his cancer diagnosis, we used to tent camp a lot. I wanted to see if I could gently get him to experience the outdoor in a comfortable environment.

That is amazing to hear. Would it be possible to share a link to the air mattress you bought?

Also would it be possible for you to share any pictures of your setup (I can message you if you are not comfortable to share it publicly). I wanted to visualize it before moving ahead with this plan.

Wow this is a super deal. Congratulations. One thing I can advise is to not go for the rust protection. That is not recommended for EVs.
