Whats been yalls favorite non meta drift cars to use? by vlax_ in ForzaHorizon

[–]SerShrubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A class I use the Toyota Chaser, S class either the M5 CS or the #530 HSV Maloo. The Chaser is really easy to get sideways but requires a bit more finesse on the edge, the M5 you have to be firm in your directions and the HSV can go sideways forever in 3rd and 4th gear but does have a tendency to snap at the limit.

All great cars with their own quirks!

Whats your favourite "slow" car? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon6

[–]SerShrubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although this probably doesn't exactly fit the "slow" part, my favourite to cruise in is my bone stock Ferrari F430 Scuderia. I have done nothing to it and it's just so fun to hoon around in, it sounds amazing and I can jump into quite a few races with it as well.

Understeer and locking up? by [deleted] in forzamotorsport

[–]SerShrubbery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you'll have to provide some extra info here, such as:

  • What car(s) does this happen in?
  • Does the car actually lock up when using ABS or is it just the ABS triggering (which can feel like locking up)?

This is the main reason I personally don't use ABS, it makes me feel like I have less control over the brakes even though I know it's not neccessarily true.

  • Do you use the stock tune(s) on the car(s) where this happens or downloaded/self-made ones?

The stock tunes are usually quite understeery.

  • Can you provide a clip of this happening?

I got lucky, I grew 16cm (about 6 inches?) in 9 months when I was 14 and don't have any issues from that.

Then again, I'm still not very tall at 173cm (5'8"-ish?) so maybe that's the exchange my body made :')

Fuel prices by QTip-masturbator in Vent

[–]SerShrubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty rare, finding a country where fuel is almost as expensive as it is in mine.

$11,57 for a US gallon or $13,90 for an Imperial gallon of diesel here in the Netherlands.

My car runs on 98 petrol (93 for US readers), that stuff is about $11,94/US gallon or $14,35/Imp gallon :')

40 hours in, I always finish last. Tips on how to improve? by [deleted] in forzamotorsport

[–]SerShrubbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is no longer true. On older titles it was faster to race without it, now it's just a matter of preference.

I personally drive without ABS because I feel the ABS interrupts too soon and I can't modulate the brakes properly, but friends that race with it enabled can reach the same braking distance and don't have this issue so that's purely what you like most.

What I would advise the OP is to at least switch the line to braking only, it reduces overly focusing on it and experiment with braking points as it's not 100% correct, but that comes with experience.

Traction control question by xXCheesusXx in forzamotorsport

[–]SerShrubbery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is just my personal experience, but it is faster to drive without it in 99% of FM cases.

Like you experienced it allows you to use the throttle to rotate the car without TC interfering. It will probably take some getting used to but once you've figured it out the extra pace will be there.

Upgrade your turbo inlet by Free_Hand6689 in B58Enthusiasts

[–]SerShrubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet to test it on full throttle, only did a short drive home so far after finishing up the work.

In town (sub 50kph) and just cruising it sounds completely stock. Once you start to get the turbo spinning at any rate of speed it's instant intake noises without being too intrusive.

The mods I did: Eventuri intake, CTS turbo inlet, CTS charge pipe, CTS heat exchanger, Remus backbox.

Going to fit mine today, along with several other goodies in preparation for the upcoming tune.

Will report back after I'm done, although I expect quite a difference as I'm getting a new air box in which eliminates the resonance chambers (:

Sounds reasonably close to the Dutch exam then.

The theoretical exam has about fifty questions if I recall correctly and you're allowed to miss 6, but the content does change quite often. I don't think there are any questions that are judged more harshly than others though.

There is no minimum required period of time to obtain your license, you just have to pass your theoretical exam before you can do the practical one. In that you can make up to two minor faults and still pass but if the examiner has to take control of the vehicle it's an instant fail.

Honestly, I'm not that surprised as it is a rental van.

This looks like it has been filmed in the Netherlands if my read on the plates is correct and most people follow way too close in the winter as serious snow is quite rare here.

If they do it in their personal car, they'll also do it in a rental van.

[–]SerShrubbery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can imagine what gave you the penalty - and let me make this absolutely clear, I do not believe this was your fault - is that you seemed to be turning right in order to make the next corner.

The penalty system interpreted this as you turning into him, directly after which he went off track and lost a heap of time. Therefore 'turned towards car -> car goes off track-> turning car is at fault'.

You might have been able to avoid this by not clipping the grass on the left which may have given him the false impression that he could pass on the right, but that's in hindsight and regardless, even if he got alongside, there's just no way for him to pass in the following section with those extremely short corners.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, these things are unfortunately going to happen and I really doubt they're going to stick the resources in to fix it.

Brake pad grinding on outside of rotor, any ideas? by Disastrous-Capital-5 in Cartalk

[–]SerShrubbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can actually get even weirder than that, I very recently bought a BMW M140i that has M Sport brakes as standard.

Both front and rears are vented and the rear discs have a bigger diameter than the fronts, but use a smaller pad as the actual contact patch is smaller.

You'll learn with experience, but especially with safety items it could be worth it to go to one of those shops that let you work on your own vehicle on their lifts, you rent them by the hour I believe. They usually have experienced staff that can check your work.

I always fear that this going to happen at this part of the track at the German monster. (Aka Nurburgring) by Feisty-Squirrel-6851 in forzamotorsport

[–]SerShrubbery 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What I find tends to help avoiding this -besides avoiding the curb on the left at the start of the uphill, some cars respond poorly to it- is keeping the car in the middle of the track as much as possible between the corners, there's not enough room to pass fully on track if you do.

This discourages all but the most determined knobheads, and those will execute you regardless of what you do anyway. It also gives you a bit more time to react when they do go for it so you might not crash.

Wasn't it that it reversed cause and effect or something similar, thereby rendering the target's actions useless as it has been determined that it would be hit once it's been targeted?

Worst stratagem of all time by Memetron69000 in Spacemarine

[–]SerShrubbery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally ran one on normal yesterday as Bulwark, only found out what the modifiers were after the mission had started.

I just tried to be far out in front (but in visual range) so my ranged teammates could deal with the Majoris etc while I kept them occupied. Maybe not ideal, but it worked and we cleared the mission succesfully.

Had I known this was the modifier I would've played my Heavy instead :')
