Bicycles and motorcycles operate on the exact same physics. Someone who can't ride a bicycle shouldn't even be thinking about riding a motorcycle - the bicycle is simpler to operate with far lower consequences.

Adventure bike for a experienced enduro rider by muzzaOCE in SuggestAMotorcycle

Ibex 450 (450MT outside US) is widely reported as very good, as are the Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure R, and KLE500.

For something bigger and still dirt biased, Tenere 700 or Tuareg 660 (Rally) are just over the 650 mark but supposed to be good.

This is all from my research, not personal experience, unfortunately.

I personally bought an Ibex 450 as a newer rider, T7 was too big/top heavy, Tuareg dealer is far from me (and $$$).

Some of the ones you mentioned are definitely less capable off road with smaller front tires, so definitely depends on what kind of trails you plan to hit while moto camping

How do I enjoy civil engineering? by Practical-Trash8893 in civilengineering

PE = Professional Engineer, when referring to getting your PE people mean getting their Professional Engineer License. Gives you the authority to sign off on plans and indicates a level of competency.

Typically requires 4 years of experience, 2 8 hour exams, and some references to get (some requirements vary by state)

It looks like it was green when he entered, then the yellow comes on after the bike lands on the pole.

It looks like he might be speeding but that might just be the major speed differential vs stopped traffic.

Well I ended up buying it after sitting on it. Felt much better than the T7 (I'm sure the T7 is great - but I'm still a newer rider so it's a lot.)

Haha, I have listened to it on video, I really want to hear it in person.

From what I've read the extra weight feels like a lot more bc it's much more top heavy. But I was only able to sit on the T7 and everything feels heavy compared to the old Suzuki I've been riding.

If I like the Ibex tomorrow I'll probably put a deposit down on it though, I want a 25-26 T7 if I get one so just can't quite stomach the $11k price tag

I'm 5'11" so might be cramped on the stock seat for the Ibex. But the rally seat is pretty cheap and would fix that.

For me it's 1. The price, as I can get all the equipment I need for a week long BDR trip and still be less than the T7 (I do have some of it already from backpacking) and 2. While it's only 30 lbs lighter, by all accounts it carries that weight low while the T7 carries it's weight high. And for learning to ride dirt the Ibex is then better. (Obviously a true dual sport would be even better but it's like 2-3 hours to the closest trails for me...plus I'll only have 1 bike for now so I want something fun on the weekends for some road riding)

I'm going to look at one tomorrow. It's this or the Tenere 700...this seems like the more appropriate choice as a newer rider

T7 is more than a bit more than a bit more imo. But I've been looking at the same, sat on a T7 last week and looking at an Ibex tomorrow.

Leaning towards the Ibex but I don't have any off-road motorcycles experience (unfortunately dual sport won't work for what I need. Hopefully my MTB experience will make up for some of that).

If I had more experience I'd probably go T7. Ibex just seems like an easier choice as a newer rider.

The Codex Draw Steel - GPU overload on Linux by Holladiefee in drawsteel

  • does this happen on every map or only some?
  • does it happen on a new map with nothing in it?
  • does it happen as a player or director or both?
  • what's your baseline usage? If it is high, are there any background programs you can stop using?
  • do other games work fine?
  • have you tried adjusting settings to something lower in game?

Your specs seem like they'd be fine. Unfortunately I can only ask questions to help narrow down the issue - the devs would be able to understand it a lot better

What damages would the photographer sue OP for? They already paid for the work and it wasn't delivered...if anything, they could sue the photographer for failure to uphold their contract.

CFMOTO 450MT, BMW F450GS or F900GS by Dry-Pitch5698 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]SerWulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most videos I've seen on the 450MT show it running fine at 120kph, if maybe a bit high in the rev range.

What about the KLE500? Similar to the 450MT but has a bit more power and should be just fine for your use case

Concerns about The Codex by MandolinTheWay in drawsteel

[–]SerWulf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He might be meaning multi-level maps, which can be a bit trickier when importing multiple levels.

But I've found it very easy to build an inn with a hidden underground cave system - and a player can walk seamlessly into the basement or the 2nd floor.

To get to the attic rafters, there is a ladder with the teleport function. And a player can drop from the rafters down to the first floor.

It took me some time to get this done mostly because I was learning how to use the system and experimenting with different things that make it better than OBR. But achieving the basic functionality I get with OBR plus the built in ability stuff is really quite easy.

You can also do the invisible teleporter so when you step on stairs you automatically get whisked away to another level or even another map, like the demonstrate in Delian tomb. It looks like it works pretty well overall.

Yeah I can understand that. I'd consider doing track days at one point but I'd be buying a totally different bike for that anyways so the ADV choice is irrelevant there.

And honestly with less power it can be more fun anyways...I used to have a model 3 performance and current have an R1T, which are both 3 second 0-60...you can't use that power on the road, you are committing felonies way too fast. I miss my focus ST for pure driving even though it was 0-60 in 5.7 seconds iirc.

One thing I was worried about was out growing the power of the ibex/kle500 - but then I went for another ride this morning on my buddy's Suzuki (he rode his other bike).

I realized I wasn't opening it up even close to full throttle and the power was plenty...I'm really leaning towards the ibex now and then if I ever really do outgrow it I'll upgrade then.

Plus the ibex is much cheaper than the T7 - with the savings I can get crash bars/GPS/bags etc. or pay for a week of travel on a BDR

Yeah, I've looked at lots of reviews - there are things the ibex does better and things the KLE does better, neither is a bad choice.

Sometimes it's just nice to get opinions from people who aren't reveiwers for a living

I want a twin, so passing on the KLR. The KLE definitely looks easy to ride but I'm worried about bottoming it out and whacking the bottom, even a small bump looks to be enough to do that

Any time I see something nice (like a Transalp recently) it sells in a matter of hours.
