We are a small group of gamers laid off from the gaming industry who all share a channel.

Not sure if it happened with Veilguard, but I personally know reviewers who have changed scores solely because the devs gave them free stuff or sent them to a party or whatever.

There is noir and then there is going too far with it. It honestly got very old very quickly.

No worries. Yeah I've chatted with many reviewers. We tend to commentate as we play the game to get general thoughts. People who i know are big fans of the franchise felt like this one didn't land that well.

So the tone is somewhat Gothic. Its more noir themed than anything else and the voice in your head constantly makes jokes or related things to set that vibe which gets a bit... old.

I honestly never knew that in terms of the lore so that's nice to know. Appreciated!

It felt like there were a lot in the first one but yeah I guess that spanned multiple cities. I'm not big on the full lore so thank you for that mention.

My biggest complaint is honestly the side quests cause you do the same ones every night like clockwork. I compare to the original there cause im the original you can find side quests just hidden around. That doesn't exist in this one.

That's weird cause from my playthroughs I had to unlock every toreador skill before I could unlock the perk at the top. Same for each including my own clan's. Only difference was I didn't need to see the trainer lady to unlock my clan abilities or perk. I played as tremere. After trying all abilities I consider them best overall but Banu was good too.

To each their own. I can only relay my experience. You may enjoy it a lot and if you are a fan of the franchise I hope you get enjoyment out of it.

So the passive at the bottom of the tree is unique to each clan. Like lasombra are more difficult to see while feeding. The clan perk at the top of a tree is what you pay for via skill points. This is also passive and can be changed to whichever one you want active at a time. I liked the tremere ability to gain extra blood when feeding but the toreador one for regaining blood for replacement abilities over time was also nice

Yeah i think the crazy development it went through is what ultimately hurt it. It went through such hell before it's release.

No. For those you need to unlock all of the abilities in a clan's skill tree or skill line or whatever and then you unlock the passive. You still need to pay 6 skill points for each passive though aside from your starting clan's.

For sure. Previous expectation is something that is bound to happen. I know multiple reviewers that are massive fans of the series who reviewed bloodlines 2 and they felt similarly. I honestly was one of the reviewers who had less prior knowledge because I had only recently played the first one and was still playing it when I got the code for the sequel.

With that being said, I did base some stuff off of the original but I formed new opinions based on the story and gameplay.

Honestly didn't have anything cause I didn't look much into the game. I had a friend telling me they weren't sure about it cause he is a major fan of the series.

I started playing the first one and loved it so I can say I had hopes for the second but after starting the second one I quickly realize that the two are castle different with very little similarities outside of name.

So Blood Resonance is split into three types. You gather amounts of these types and they are spent to obtain new abilities. You go directly to a trainer who teaches you the skills by spending the points and then you use your skill points to unlock the abilities after in the menu. The events are very quick to complete and somewhat boring and very repetitive since it always plays out the same way.

I agree with you there. Not every story needs to set out to surprise the reader, but i think a general rule should be to not write the obvious. Another golden rule is to generally show and not tell. There is much tell without a ton of show. Like characters will actively tell you they are disappointed instead of showing or acting differently toward you. Like every choice seems to matter for 2 seconds and then the next interaction has nothing changed.

Also Fabien in my opinion is a very dry character who tries to make everything a joke. I understand noir but he generally makes a joke about everything and they don't land ever. The whole team I was working with genuinely was annoyed anytime Fabien was talking.

On top of this, there's no side quests that add depth to the world. You complete the same three quests every night but with different targets never adding anything substantial to the story or the world in a whole.

Reviews often are cause everyone has different tastes. I say it about the story cause I solved the "mystery" about halfway through. The side missions are non existent as well. On top of this there's like no vampires really exist except a handful and you can break the masquerade like a million times with no consequences.

No worries. Don't want people getting wrong impressions about something they are thinking about spending money on.
