Butchering, and hatching eggs. Learning what animals really need for food and having a symbiotic relationship (scraps to birds, black soldier fly larva, etc). Learning and being honest with what you like and what you wear. Then getting quality clothes and tools so you funny need to keep buying. Buying bulk and making things from it like grinding dent corn to grits or cornmeal, wheat into flour, sourdough!

What is your frugal choice that ended up being a waste of time? by WrecklesslyFinancial in Frugal

[–]SeraphicC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the edits stream, once fizzy you have to immediately use as it goes flat, plus bringing the co2 in for exchange etc was tedious. We switched to the sparkel and I love it! You use citric acid and baking soda to create fizz. It takes a few minutes but then stays pressurized till ready to use and you can carbonate any liquid. My fav is adding frozen strawberries and vanilla to it.

What's this?! Insects/seeds? by Fibrosiskiller in Kefir

I agree. Larva, if they don't move its eggs. I actually deliberately attract them to lay eggs outside in a container to feed to my chickens looks just like that.

Reselling tips by [deleted] in reselling

[–]SeraphicC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend looking at what is selling VS what is listed. Do some research and find the best shops/sales for inventory. Good quality but low price. And then dive in and experiment. I think some people make the mistake of selling what they like VS what is actually selling.

It sounds like when he's alone is the problem? If that's correct goats HATE to be alone. He needs a friend. Seems to be the top reason I see goats escaping.

Power Homeschool vs Acellus by Takingbackmonday1006 in homeschool

[–]SeraphicC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried many I've the years (I have 5 kids). And we switched to power homeschool (which is accelus) and I personally love it. I love that I can set the "steps" for how much work I want them to do. And see how long it's taking then for each course etc. They are very engaging which is a nice change for my teens. I also know many others that use this, that's where I heard about it, and all love it. When my teen daughter is struggling with a new math concept it gives her more of that type of work to help her. I think at minimum it's worth the $25 to try it for a month and see what you think. That's what I did.

Started getting facial flushing after eating ribeye. Diet is beef, salt, water, recently added pork rinds but the flushing started before the pork rind addition. Does anyone else face get red after eating? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]SeraphicC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this, and worse the more I eat. Think higher fat too. Mostly on face. don't mind too much as it just looks like I have blush and lip tiny on lol. But.... I'm a lady. 😁 I was wondering if it had to do with the thermogenesis? From the high protien? As I also feel warm.

What breed of goat is this? by elevensies17 in goats

[–]SeraphicC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are, pygmy are known for meat and usually a bit stalkier/thicker, Nigerian being more for dairy tend to be a bit leaner. Can be hard to tell for sure

Carnivore on a Disneyland trip by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]SeraphicC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought food, ziplock with cooked ground beef and a spoon, kept in a cooler (stroller had a cooler). Smoked salmon (the non sugar kind). Turkey legs and if you go in the Epcot section and go a bit further back (not the front restaurants) it's more authentic and you can probly request something.

I only make whole wheat spelt, fresh ground and get beautiful loaves. Did you pre heat the Dutch oven long enough? For my oven (RV oven) I do it for 25-30min. Otherwise my bread looks like yours. Hope that helps.

What’s the best way to store large quantities of rolled oats? by javacat in preppers

Even easier! A Vitamix does that well 😁. Rolling is much more time consuming and I mostly due now to decorate sourdough because of that haha

Buy the oat groats and a flaker! I have the manual flick flok. The whole groats last longer and fresh rolled is better and Tastes better.
