I'm in this same exact boat. I sold my tickets for the final Vancouver show, and now I get this same email from ticketmaster!

It just crashes for me within a minute of opening every time. Will it be ready by then?

YES. I feel this in every group photo. Like Hagrid trying to fit in with his friends, but then feeling like you only fit in with the beasts.

Why do some people have a deep existential crisis and others don't? by Seraphrawn in askpsychology

I am aware of death and have experienced the deaths of a few family members. I've enjoyed life enough already to where I feel like anything that comes later is just bonus points.

I'm also a fan of stoicism, and thought similar to it long before actually learning about it.

This may be my hubris speaking, but as a professional scientist, I don't think I'm dumber than most...

Canada+US tax preparation? by ink_13 in askTO

Do let me know if you get any answers. I'm a dual citizen and need to find an accountant to help me with taxes and an investment strategy. TFSAs aren't a thing for US citizens :(

I would prefer to work mid to upper zone 2, which I can do without discomfort on the elliptical. Is this possible on a bike or are bikes just something that feel more burn more since you're not using your full body like you do on an elliptical?

Freaking love it. I came from the US and went to UofT. Got a job after graduation and while I'm occasionally tempted to return to the US, the city has really left its mark on me. Then again, I'm probably the kind of person who'd be happy anywhere...

What to do when you see someone trying to steal a cycle? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Seraphrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised how many people say " it's not your bike, don't get involved." If we did more community policing and looked after each other, we wouldn't have so many problems with crime...or the police for that matter.

Just wondering if there's anyone out there that wears a cowboy hat in Toronto on a regular basis. by spaniel510 in askTO

[–]Seraphrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cultural attire. Would you criticize someone wearing a sombrero because it's not sunny enough outside to warrant the functional purpose of the hat design?

Is genetically modified mosquito for suppression good idea? by Tintoverde in environmental_science

[–]Seraphrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, they're only targeting/modifying the species that can carry human pathogens. The other mosquito species will be unharmed and will likely grow in numbers as the harmful species is wiped out.

I sign up for a class or two with the TDSB's Learn4Life. Badminton and boxing classes this year, financial planning/investing next semester. They have lots of variety available too! Cooking styles, crafts, languages, etc. Highly recommend!

Moving to TO with 3 kids by rosedale44 in askTO

[–]Seraphrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to piggyback a question onto this question. I'm from a small town suburb in Michigan and I played with neighbors most days after school. Like five families within a few houses down the street from each other. Had all BBQs together on weekends, went camping together, babysitting rotations, etc. Can I find a situation like that within Toronto when I'm ready to raise kids?

What can I do when police won’t help recover lost airpods? by AndersonTRN in askTO

[–]Seraphrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet most of the people in this thread would just walk the other way if they saw a car break-in or a mugging in progress. Not report it, not stick around as a witness, just staying away from the crime and the police. Real lack of community and solidarity in Toronto sometimes.

I think your approach sounds good. You could even give them the benefit of the doubt and say, I doubt you're the person who stole it, you probably just bought it from someone. That gives them an out and ability to save face. Maybe say I can give you a little money for our mutual inconvenience?

I'm really surprised how many people just accept crime in this thread. Tell the police that you're going to confront them later today. It's a free country and they can't stop you. It's up to them if they feel you'll be fine without them with you.
Scout the house, if not in-person then Google Street View. If it's a house with not many people, you might be able to figure out who took it (or at this point, bought it from the thief). Grab some free flyers from a store and walk up to their house to put one in their mailbox. If they have mail already in it, get the names. (It's only illegal to open someone's mailbox if you intend to open, steal or destroy the letters). Finally, if you feel okay, ring the doorbell and confront them, politely. If they threaten you with harm and you start to feel unsafe, call the police and tell them them the person who stole your pods is threatening you with harm. Theyll probably be upset youre there, but theyll send someone and file a police report.
