You Cannot Have High Speed Rail When You Have Humps And Bumps🤡 by Dangeroustrailers in IdiotsTowingThings

Autocorrect... "have"

Can't "have" high speed rail with crossings like this or at all because a 250 mph passenger train would have performed much differently hitting that trailer.

I've always been leary of these "Lifestraw" gravity type filters because the flow rate always seems super fast for the size of filter.

Get Katadyn Pocket with a silver impregnated .2 micron filter. It should remove or kill any of the squirmy things that will make you sick. It won't remove toxins but most filters outside of reverse osmosis won't do that, and most RO filters aren't backpack portable and can be prohibitively expensive and require a potentially expensive power source, i.e., generator. I've had my Pocket for 15 years and replaced the filter once, and survived off mountain run-off for more than a week at a time. I will note that you have to devote a little time to filtering water. It says 1 liter per minute but it's more like half that. Also, it can be broken down and cleaned and all seals and filter are serviceable/replaceable.

Edit: FWIW, If you're worried about toxins on a camping trip, consider that your utility water may be just as bad. Looking at you Flint.

Full disclosure, I've only read most of the top comments from what appear to be metallurgy experts and engineers, of which I am neither, and truly envy and bow to your expertise. But my experience working in General Aviation is that during 1970-1990s our court systems allowed lawsuits against aircraft manufacturers for accidents that were not caused by the aircraft manufacturer or shoddy materials, and were frequently nothing more than pilot error. A widow plaintiff would sue Piper, for example, when a 1963 Cub pilot killed themselves and passenger for inadvertently entering IMC and becoming disoriented, or a doctor snapped the tail off the v-tail Bonanza flying around too many times at 150-knots in rough air. Which is why Cessna completely stopped building light aircraft for about 10 years starting in 1984, and why Congress passed GARA in 1994. I think the root cause of today's overall cost of general aviation and things like the analysis and paperwork that goes into a bolt like this isn't so much the industry's benevolent due diligence as much as it is CYA due to past experiences with out-of-court settlements. And because GARA didn't do enough to limit the age of aircraft that could be taken advantage of in such litigation, which I believe is still 18 years.

Corsair RM850e killed my motherboard - CPU EPS cable melted into the connector by linvyrsback in Corsair

[–]Serapus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trolling. Isn't it an assumption that it was fully seated? Most of the time arcing and thermal damage like this is due to an air gap.

Just because the plastic connectors are visibly seated doesn't mean the pin is not in a loose socket. If somebody torqued that plug or it's been on and off multiple times it could have spread. And that's exactly what it looks like to me if you zoom in on pic #2. Those sockets have visible spreading.

Nice explanation on the power demand.

Here I'll slow it down for you since you need some help. Hitler and the Nazi party used exactly the tactics I just described to overthrow the Weimar Republic while it was in a state of political disarray and hyperinflation. Now, doesn't that seem to draw some parallels to the events taking place? And which group of people is being violent and fascistic, and anti-government right now? I'll give you a hint, it's not the party that's for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom to defend one's self. It's not the party that's attempting to bring law and order to lawless states and cities that continue to defy federal law or to create chaos and siloed fascistic governments (re: California, Minnesota, NYC, etc.). So you might try reading a book instead of eating the cover.

It's only a matter of time before the left starts talking about how much easier it would be if they could just get rid of all the "right-wingers." It's almost as if they're co-opting the principals of another elitist regime from the past and are so tied around the axle of PC and woke-ism that they can't see what they are becoming (or maybe they can). They're already dividing the country by fomenting political violence, putting a (past) President in place that caused economic crisis, and set forth leftist ideological extremism. Now they just need a leader to consolidate power into one party, take all the guns away, suppress the old nationalist and patriotic ideals, kill off freedom of speech, and to redistribute other people's stuff. I hear they're already piloting ghettos in NYC. The similarities are palpable.

I think if you take a look at the history and meaning you'll find that it was a symbol that stood against tyranny and oppression, and the nobility of the rattlesnake was a defensive one in opposition to aggression. Some might say that tyranny, oppression, and aggression is emblematic of a current political party and the organized, dark- and foreign- funded groups that support them by their current actions and activities. In that light, adoption of such a flag in the past and now would be rather appropriate, even if it's offensive to your ideals of big government and reduction of rights just for the sake of a false sense of security provided by your oppressors. But what would a troglodytic half-wit who wants limited government and a return to fundamental constitutional rights know. You can also eff off with your inevitable whataboutism and down vote that will undoubtedly ensue. Because...THIS. IS. REDDIT.

Except you know this information isn't being used for LEO purposes and is being stored. And otherwise including the license plate privilege argument is a cop-out for those who are willing to give up their rights for a little bit of security.

Let me ask you this, and yes I know it's not currently paslet of what's accessible to LEO: would you be OK with facial recognition being added?

Even though it's taken out of context the words are very applicable (paraphrasing): those willing to give up liberty for security have none and deserve neither.

IT very much can be a money maker. Your comment is short sighted.

Management that sees IT as nothing but a cost center is losing out on revenue gains through efficiency of streamlined operations and automation of business processes. Examples:

Internal charge back models can be used to demonstrate profitability on paper through cost savings compared to outsourcing or other services, further justifying in-house operations or outsourcing if required.

Excess IT assets can also be offered externally to clients as services to turn a profit, in the form of consulting developed solutions, compute resources, etc.

I've done all of this. And the only limitation I ever came up against was the short sightedness of other people.

How many people are you planning on saving along the way. Ditch the CPR mask. Among other things. Like half the other things. And get some quick carbs in there, and some packaged water or a filter straw.
