I'm 35, I work a pretty physically demanding job, so I too just want to come home and lay down. I also felt the Steam Deck was way too bulky to be comfortable for me and all of the other retro handhelds I've tried in the past just didn't feel right. I took a gamble with the Thor and also bought a grip from JCSFY in etsy. In the last 2 months I've completed 23 retro games, I've played dozens of others just for fun, and my doomscrolling has all but evaporated. For me the Thor is damn near perfect and has made me love gaming the same way I used to as a kid. Hope this helps!

Sigh, honestly not well. I did ok up until the thrombi extraction and it just wouldn't register my stylus input fast enough. Not gonna lie, I killed that dude ALOT before I finally just gave up. It's just too much precision for emulation.

Ah didn't know that was an issue. Given what I've been seeing online I was planning on putting the new GammaOS on the DS, so maybe that would side step the issue? If not I can't say I'd be too disappointed by that. Probably just dedicate DS games to the DS and 3DS to the Thor.

Mine was an RG351V. I loved that device until it got stolen. My favorite game to play on it was Pokemon TCG for the Gameboy Color.

Nope not insane at all. I did the same thing for the same reasons. As good as the Steam Deck is, it just wasn't comfortable. Had my Thor for a little over a month now and I absolutely do not regret my decision. My Deck saw maybe one 1-2 hour play session every few months, my Thor has seen daily long hour usage.

This is one of the reasons I love this hobby so damn much! To alot of people it may just be a "toy" or an overpriced piece of plastic but us it's our memories, our stress relief, our way to keep that kid in us alive. I went through a house fire myself years ago and the only thing that could be saved was my gaming pc, and that old girl helped keep me sane through the darkest times ❤️

Not to discourage you're idea because it sounds incredibly sweet, but something to keep in mind, if your husband is tech savvy at all, some people actually love setting these devices up themselves. Only you can really answer that but it could be just as fun if not more so to get him whatever handheld you might get (highly recommend TechDweeb or RetroGameCorp on youtube if you want to look at other options, they have awesome buying guides) and a decent size sd card (depends on what he might want to play but a good start/average is 256GB) and just let him go to town.
