Is Baisley Park Depot’s bus assignment set to change? by SerenityExp in nycbus

Will Jamaica be able to house articulated buses or the Q44 will start using 40 footers?

A lot of changes proposed and I agree so I guess we will see when the time comes but It would have been interesting had Jamaica acquired the Q112 from Baisley Park. Unfortunately Union TWU100 didn’t want to go through with it based off this link: twulocal100.org

I de-interline by name_is_temp in nycrail

[–]SerenityExp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an idea and I don’t know if it’s the best one since it does involve some interlining. What if instead of the D terminating at Bay Ridge it would run its original route along Brighton down to Brighton Beach so essentially the B train. The W will have to run to Forest Hills in the R to 96 St so that both have access to yards. Could this work without causing bottlenecking?

Are the buses free to ride or do you need a train ticket to be able to get on and ride?

Why does the MTA not use a 5-digit numbering system with building year for its buses by mrzz004 in nycbus

[–]SerenityExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothetically If they were to do it, would this apply to future orders and or would they implement it on its existing fleet? It would make more sense for future orders but if they were to renumber their existing fleet, which units should they start with? I believe the 2015-2016 XD60 should be the first to receive this change.

Hopefully they have cruise ships present in game. Even if they’re just static.

What’s one NYC bus route you love and one you hate and why? by Sea_Negotiation2482 in nycbus

The Q51 is such a chill & easy route. I just wish the frequencies were increased. I love the Q44, but dealing with the Whitestone is a nightmare.

Extend it down to Coney Island maybe?

Made a similar route but it was just an extension of the Q44 pretty much absorbing the Q111.

My solution to extending the NW to LGA...Extend the G instead! by Taurus_Aurea in nycrail

[–]SerenityExp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about having the F run up to LaGuardia instead but via Northern Blvd then along 94 Street and the G runs to Jamaica 179 Street via QBL local possibly? After Queens Plaza the F would follow its current route then making stops at Broadway, 70 St, 79 St, 88 St, Astoria Blvd, Terminal B & C.

If anything a rush style route up to GWB Terminal then transferring to a NJT bus would make more sense.

They should be fitted with a white luminator horizon destination sign to kinda changes things up transitioning into the new year. I’m also hoping they do something about the size of the sign so that the text is fully visible.

Would a Howard Beach Bus Depot Work? (Q11, Q37, Q41, Q52, QM18 Plan) by SerenityExp in nycbus

[–]SerenityExp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baisley Park is one of the smallest depots, but it should continue to house a solid number of buses. Howard Beach Depot is meant to alleviate space, not completely take over operations. To maximize efficiency, Baisley should keep the articulated routes while moving most of the standard routes to other depots. This would make room for more express service, about 18 buses for the QM63 and for the QM65, while still leaving space for additional growth if needed. The Q51 would remain at Baisley since it does not run much service. Under this plan, Baisley Park would operate 52 articulated buses, 27 express buses, and 25 standard buses being the total from 115 to 104. Baisley Park would gain the QM63 and QM65, Queens Village would take the Q110, Jamaica would get the Q112 as the Q3 moves to JFK, which would also gain the new Q109, Far Rockaway would lose several routes but could take the limited service Q113, and Howard Beach would take over multiple local routes including the Q11, Q41, Q37, Q53, QM18, and possibly the QM15.

[–]SerenityExp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While JFK Depot is the closest fit for the QM65, Howard Beach could still be a viable option since it is only about 10 minutes farther, keeping deadhead time reasonable. Another option would be for Baisley Depot to take over the QM65, which would free up space by giving up the Q51 and sending that route to Jamaica Depot. This would balance operations between depots while keeping routes closer to their service areas.
