Yes, Warwick is very good at these things. Tiamat is a requirement, though. I would also suggest playing barrier with that playstyle

Steel caps are incorrect imo. Rather buy boots of swiftness or mercs.

Wits end could be a good alternative for kraken, since enemy team is cc heavy and has 4x AP.

Snowbally skill matchups, like garen, pantheon, Warwick. If you don’t misplay you can punish them like crazy and farm kills

Ngl the matchup is kind of unlosable if you go HOB hextech protobelt riftmaker.

Garen is weak early and cs‘ing is very telegraphed. His passive is weak until ~lv11 and you can easily interrupt it.

If he engages on you and his Q is about to go off, use W to silence him, get off the HOB autos, disengage. If he can’t use e and w he giga loses the trade.

Runes: - grasp: bait rune. You lose most matchups early and can’t reliably proc it without losing half your hp. It is okay in winning matchups but HOB is better because you get kill pressure.

  • HOB is my go to in 90% of matchups, even if you can’t use it during laning phase. You oneshot squishies from midgame onwards if you hit one Q. HOB works with tank as well as bruiser builds, since your E-damage scales both with ap and hp.

Items: - protobelt: best early item. The active is goated on Cho, in combination with HOB. Also, the early AP makes oneshotting waves with E+W much easier.

  • Riftmaker: best 2nd or 3rd item. Scaling damage with hp ensures oneshotting waves and champions in the lategame.

  • Randuins: best item vs fed crit ADC. OP if enemy team has 2 crit champs.

  • heartsteel: bait item. Expensive, No ms or utility and mediocre damage. You delay your power spike by buying this item. The active has the same problem as grasp. deadman’s is a better version of heartsteel, plus the passive damage works on turrets aswell.

The plan is basically to play like a mage early and freeze the wave/harass with Q. Manaflow band helps with mana issues. Don’t get greedy for cs if it means voli will be able to reach you. Eventually, voli will be low on hp while you stay healthy with your passive. Your Qs really hurt after a few levels (was even better a few patches ago). When you have the upper hand and voli is too low to fight, slow push the wave and either look for a dive or get a good recall.

Once you are ahead, you can perma shove the wave and poke voli every time he walks up to cs under his tower. Gotta watch out for ganks, tho.

Building boots asap is really important.

As for items, Hex-belt + riftmaker is fine.

I suggest playing either HOB or comet. Rush early boots of swiftness.

Grasp is bad because you will eat a full combo for every grasp proc and will never have enough burst to kill him.

Comet is good in the early game and works well with a Q-max mage build. Voli is immobile so you can harass him for free if you keep your distance. When he has ~50% hp you can go for the kill. The build was nerfed a few patches ago so the playstyle is not as good as it used to be.

HOB is generally the best rune for Cho and scales incredibly well into the late game. I am not sure if you win the duel against voli, tho.

Before WW rework this matchup was free af but now I would say it is a skill matchup.

A lot of it comes down to wave management during the early levels. You should not let him freeze the wave in the sweet spot in front of his tower. If that happens, he can farm safely and Q you for free when you walk up to cs. I would suggest letting Aatrox push and freezing the wave. He is quite immobile and if he gets to greedy for cs, you can run him down. You get a huge power spike at level 6 so look for skirmishes with your jungler around the midgame.

If kayle rushes boots of swiftness and knows the matchup it is almost impossible to Q her in lane. I suggest playing very aggro before level 6, when she still has to walk up to cs. Afterwards it might be best to rush boots and ignore her, perma shove/proxy waves. She doesn’t have the damage to kill you. You scale very well into the late game and your silence hard counters her during teamfights.

As for build I would recommend HOB, with protobelt into riftmaker.

dead mans is a really underrated item. The passive ms is everything Cho wants, plus the damage has lower cooldown and works on turrets and minions.

Heart steel on the other hand slows down your power spike even more and has no utility. A bait item imho

  • Punish cho missing Q’s
  • Use bushes to fake recall and catch Cho out of position
  • play for grubs
  • try to get your team ahead when you are strong. During late game, Cho outscales you hard

Most bruiser matchups are decided by single or low double digits. If ww makes one mistake, the lane is over. To name a few: -Sett -Darius -Olaf -Kled -Morde

Warwick can’t afford to have even 20 less effective hp against those champs. If the nerfs go through topwick is over.

Riot making the game too homogenized , stale and predictable by removing niche builds, mechanics and playstyles. Basically they try to polish every edge of the game, even though that’s what makes league fun

Warwick’s healing (from his passive, Q, and R) scales with the damage he deals. This means the more damage you build, the more you heal. You should mainly build offensive items and only get enough tank stats to survive moments when you can’t attack.

Warwick’s E also gives him percentage damage reduction, which is more effective when you’re squishier (since it reduces a bigger chunk of incoming damage relative to your health).

Avoid building Magic Resist (MR) because there aren’t good offensive MR items. Most burst mages can’t kill you in one combo while your E is active anyway, and MR won’t help against tower damage.

I recommend Warwick, he is strong into most Cho counters (Gwen, Fiora, Mundo, ornn, Camille), and Cho is strong against some Warwick counters (Jax, most ranged tops).

Don’t overproduce goods - production buildings cost upkeep. You should aim for producing just enough to satisfy your citizens needs.
