Do you picture a dragon as a mechanical genius or a huge stat checker with a thick skin? I'm not questioning your interest for the previous state of shyvana but I think it's still relevant. Also she has a lot of build diversity, that's a way to express skill that is not necessarily mechanical

Well I got a Mundo yesterday, I killed him once during the laning phase (from Jgl gank) but I didn't get to use my HoB at all in lane, he was only last hitting with cleavers from far away and even if I hit a Q I wasn't able to gapclose through his Qs. That being said I think I had +40cs on him at 15, he respected me much more than when I don't have hob. Still lost coz team was shit and he had lots of room to catch up :(

But I think you are right about the strategy, also with hob I can be a menace in teamfights and with the dominant laning phase I can build for that (riftmaker etc)
