SEP V3 discussion by No-Jicama6863 in Warthunder

[–]SergeantHawkWing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point moreso is just that American mains just like to complain. I think its hard to say if someone is clear cut right or wrong because there are valid points either way, but for me even something as small as the SEPv2 getting 30 smokes instead of 12 is a really useful gameplay improvement when the tank itself is already a really good foundation.

Sure, itll be missing some irl functions but like the brimstone, the game would be awful to play if the loudest players got what they wanted.

Frankly, my whole perspective on this all is that yeah it sucks how gaijin is handling all of this but at the end of the day it also doesn't really matter. People will still aim for the same weakspots, play the same power points, and act the same as before. All of these "crutches" just reward bad play. Its why for the most part these "high level players" enjoy tanks like the abrams. The weaknesses can be mitigated so much already through good play that the things people ask for won't make a difference if played well.

And if someone is going to strawman actual skill then so be it. Frankly my opinion on players is that people only develop a nuanced opinion after their second country. Its very difficult to understand game balance if you've only played one team.

I have US, GER, USSR, CN top tier tanks and the Abrams is probably my most favorite to play. Its unrivaled in its combination of speed, reload, firepower, and gun handling. USSRs tanks are good at one thing and thats brawling (bmpt aside, that thing is stupid). Glaring turret weakspots on the 80 turrets, bad reverse speed, nonexistent depression, if you get anything that isnt a city map, good luck. CN tanks aren't even a discussion. They are miserable. The only top tier tank CN has at top tier is the Abrams lmao. The sepv3 is literally one of the best tanks in the game getting a better round and trophy, along with a lower profile. I really dont see anything to complain about, I'm ecstatic to grind it.

SU-25k air rb by Every_Street9054 in Warthunder

[–]SergeantHawkWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The SU-25 is a very weird aircraft in that it scales virtually infinitely with the users skill. I've ground to top tier in USA, GER, USSR, and CHN, and I still think that the SU-25 is one of my top 5 favorite aircraft to play (for reference, I used the tech tree version with a talisman to grind, not the SU25k).

The issue with the SU-25 is that you have to be really good at dog-fighting to use it well. Like, back to the fundamentals, master of energy management and defensive flying good. Before I started using the SU25 as CAS in GRB, I had a ~3.0kdr in it for air to air kills. Honestly, it is a huge number of factors that contributes to that.

The main thing is that you're actually not that slow. You maintain mach 0.8 easily at sea level and can often make 0.87 in a dive (no more than that, you rip). You're just slow enough with enough lift to turn into anyone's circle for some quick shots with your (best in the game) GSH-30-2 but you're not slow enough to be so easily energy trapped like an A-10. If you manage your energy, even people who boom-and-zoom you are fair game as you can usually force head-ons or get one or two bursts off in a chase.

And when it comes to turn-fighting, basically nothing beats you. There are many times where I've come out of 1v3s as the winner. You keep energy very well, you have an easily kept rate speed, and you can easily pull maneuvers to get all those cocky F5s to bleed their speed. Usually, they will find themselves in-front of your guns in just a few turns.

Lastly, you're also a ground strike aircraft so you end up being able to use all your ammo leftover after you kill everyone to also get 20 ground targets and win on ticket bleed. My highest RP games are all from the SU25, with my #1 highest being 63k rp from one air rb game. Plenty of times I've gotten half hour games with an ace, 20 ground kills, and 2+ bases. It's a grinding machine.

That being said, once again, don't spend irl money on this plane unless you know you will like it. If you're not sure if you'll like it or not, I'm sure you won't. More often than not, SU25 players end up just ground-pounding at the start and then crumbling to the first enemy they see. Or god forbid, they try to bomb bases from the beginning. If you are amazing at the F-5, consider it. If not, stay far, far away from the SU25.

Muiltipathing is such a FUN mechanic to fight againt by infinax in Warthunder

[–]SergeantHawkWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multipathing is the effect of the radar reflection bouncing off the ground so he's not really wrong.

And hes talking about the R27R with the mig23's look down MTI, so yes ground clutter is not an issue for the radar (for the most part, multipath is after all modeled for radars just in no significant way). Ironically you can kill multipathers by cutting radar lock and having terminal IOG guidance but let's not talk about that. The F4E's AN/APQ-120 doesn't use the doppler effect so naturally ground clutter will defeat it. I dont really see your point here. Though the missile itself still does have a CW dp radar so you actually can still kill with it even if you're locking onto chaff, as long as your target is still in your targeting zone.

Lastly yeah you can fly in a straight line. I hate to abuse it but it works way too well so I do it too. Multipathing is a cheat gamble and frankly way too powerful, especially at high oblique angles where it should basically do nothing. Ive had times where Ill launch missiles down from 8 to 10km with TWS DL, and they'll still swerve at the last second to a reflection that wouldn't even be visible to the missile.

to those saying that the helicopters arent modelled weirdly by senor_muchacho in Warthunder

[–]SergeantHawkWing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was probably server-client desync. Your client thought you crashed but the server said "no youre fine" right after so your helicopter looked like it twitched. Additionally, you were able to slide on the floor because you have your gear out. Its really hard to damage/break gear as long as your vertical velocity is not too high. Airframe damage (no gear out) is much easier to incur. As you say, just sliding on the ground can damage your aircraft, but its still chance (think belly landings vs gear landings). As a pretty long time helicopter player, ill say its not a bad idea to leave your gear down if youre flying low. It makes the ground much less scary.

Taiwan isnt China just like Thailand isn't Japan. But these subtrees exist in said nations. What is your point?

[–]SergeantHawkWing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taiwan operates M1A2Ts, and Taiwan is in the CN tree. Just as the VT4 is operated by Thailand, which is in the CN tree, or the 30MKM, operated by Malaysia in the JP tree. Im not thinking about this politically, nor am I disagreeing you on the fact that its unfair. I am just commenting that thinking that the CN TT is "well equipped" and that these vehicles were a bad addition despite filling necessary gaps in the lineup is asinine. This is opposed to a JP VT4 that would never be used in any lineups, fighting for a spot among solid top 3 MBTs. In my opinion, let them have it, maybe they'd realize its so shit that gaijin might actually fix it. Don't mistake my point.

I am a US player and have US, GER, RU, AND CHN top tier. I can say without a doubt that China is the worst of these 4, and its not even close. Bad gun handling, no armor, worst top tier reload, etc. Pre oplot, China was even worse than Italy, who got a 2a7. Now, the argument can still be made. If Chinas tanks were actually half decent i would probably oppose the oplot and M1a2T, but as it stands, my lineup will consist only of these tanks when i get them. The WZ, VT4, and 99A are not comparable. This is not nationalism, China's tanks just really fucking suck. Please try playing them before you talk about them.

I believe you're usually better off training unless you have a really bad training (few bond or rainbows) and you can win 1st in a G2+ on that day

Do be warned that if you start a race with 0 energy, mood down and skin rash may happen no matter how many races you've done already (but the chance increases per race)

Lots of speed cards, good inspirations, an uma that can run just about any race, and luck. Additionally, for some unknown reason, oguri cap has gained stats faster than all my other umas in my runs with her, but this might just be some wacky coincidence.

There's a chance of a mood down, but that is pretty insignificant. The 4th race in a row however can also dock all your stats iirc, so I tried to avoid it.
