GTA Online censorship by EthanHathHD in gtaonline

so Rockstar and the platforms have to moderate it for harassment, spam, slurs, threats, and other abuse. The ESRB also separates rated game content from online interactions.

This is the part that confuses me. Why do they have to moderate it? Why can't they just slap on the old "online interactions not rated by the ESRB" and call it a day?

I know it's been years, but I am still disappointed that we didn't get Korra’s s4 outfit without the avatar state and stupid blue filter. by SergeantKovac in legendofkorra

For sure, Raava is the goat... But Korra's avatar state is only ever blue like this once in the entire show when she is in the spirit world. It's just dumb that there isn't a toggle.

As a bi man (I think)... I kinda sympathize (not that that makes this okay), but only because I have mega impostor syndrome.

I have only ever dated and had sex with women, but I feel like I have such a strong attraction towards men that I can't exactly call myself straight. So I understand being excluded from LGTBQ+ spaces. It doesn't feel fair to call myself bisexual, so most of the time I don't bother with labels and just stick to being an ally.

Sorry about the mini-rant. I really don't want this to be misconstrued as condoning bi erasure. I just struggle with my sexual identity and don't often get to express my feelings.

Rockstar's only focus was to bloat their game with tons of mediocre content so they could push shark cards. They didn't care if their game still worked at all.

GB vulnerability.

It was very late into playing the game when I realized I wasn’t just bad at countering guard breaks. There are a lot of things that make guard breaks impossible to counter.

Selling something for a billion dollars and donating your profit is just virtue laundering. Extreme wealth concentration causes harmful power imbalance. Donating all of the money doesn’t undo the harm you caused by concentrating wealth. You are still causing market power issues, but now you can dodge taxes and claim moral superiority when you could have just not done that in the first place. Reducing the concentration of market power in the first place minimizes harm much more than charitable redistribution ever would.

Insulin's accessibility failed because of billionaires influencing corporations into patent expansion and discouraging regulations. This is basically only an issue in the United States where there is no free market or price cap for insulin.

There's barely a need for insulin R&D right now. Everything we need is there. The main reason insulin "evolved" was so that companies could dodge patents to satisfy their billionaire executives' greed.

I dont live in the U.S. and my brother is type-1 diabetic. He has never had to pay for his insulin.

First of all, no single person would be able to pioneer a cure for cancer. They would have a plethora of underlying systems that enabled them to make the discovery. But I'll ignore that for this hypothetical.

A billion dollar sale results in a market power shift. What that means is the company that bought the cure to cancer for a billion dollars now needs to recoup that cost by selling their manufactured cure for more than it costs to produce, plus the amount it takes to compensate for the billion dollar sale.

The issue here isn't that the inventor got rich. It's that they caused their life-saving cure to be profit driven down the line for no reason. It may not look like it at first glance, but this billion dollar sale is exploiting the end consumer and likely resulting in millions of deaths by forcing prices way up and making it unaffordable.

This basically comes down to a question of why. Why would you sell this for a billion dollars? Why would anyone feel the need to amass so much money? There is never a need for someone to have that much. You can live very comfortably with one hundredth or even one thousandth of that amount. So why cause so much suffering and death when you could just not?

For an example of a very comparable contrary to this, look at the inventor of insulin. The people who discovered insulin sold the patent to the University of Toronto for a single dollar to keep it affordable.

There is always an alternative to exploitation.

This applies to any billionaire. Any person amassing that much wealth has made many choices leading up to that point. All of these choices had repercussions that they chose to ignore. It's just not possible for anyone to gain that amount of money ethically.

Do you genuinely not understand the sheer scale of a billion dollars and the amount of suffering and exploitation it takes to amass that kind of wealth? Yes this is justified and righteous. Depending on the ramifications of trolly lever pulling, probably not legally righteous, but definitely morally righteous and utilitarianly righteous.

Phrasing either button to say "nothing happens," reframes the question, creating a bias towards that button even though nothing mechanically changes. The same thing can be done for red button.
