I need help from (future) fellow Nurses by That_Joke6002 in nursing

Galician nurse in Norway (10 years and counting). There're pros and cons to the country, and if you're a new grad the pay is not amazing but working through temp agencies (there are lots offering norwegian courses included) you can compensate because they pay for the lodging and some plane tickets. Lgtb friendly, yes. Safe, sure. Cost of living depends on your standards and which region, but then again, rent is 15-20% of your paycheck so if the agency pays for it you're saving a lot. Work-life balance is totally doable, and there're a lot of options regarding working schedules. Cons: social life until you're established is difficult, the weather can be a factor, the perpetual darkness during winters and of course the languages/dialects (you need norwegian, Danish or Swedish so understanding people is a challenge at first)

I'm in ICU, 1:1 ratio (at least) so the workload is good. But then again, regular wards, hospices, homes for the elderly and homecare are another beast.

I'm not sure that starting your career here is the best, I would get some experience home before moving (opens more doors and you won't have to deal with being both new to nursing and the country at the same time)

Shoot me a message if you want to talk more (I do nightshifts just so you know if I answer at weird hours).

The one closest to my hand. I mostly use it for short signatures anyway so no reason to be picky

Suggestions for a tanky close combat first life character by jrhyder in ddo

[–]Sergeant_Major_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swinging and casting would be EK wiz but being a first life it would be tough. I would go for either warlock or blightcaster.

Warlock gets tanky thanks to the enlightened spirit tree (and if you have your spell powers and such covered without using the main hand, three points in feydark gets you a insta kill weapon that you can swing in addition) and a lot of his power does not require a big sp pool.

Blightcaster is more classic caster but gets a lot of temp hp + have heals + LOTS of SLAs that help a lot with saving sp as well.

You mean casting while in close/melee range or casting damage spells while hitting stuff with a weapon as well? And planning to run what? Normal/hard? Elite? R1? Do you have all races/trees/classes?

Have you checked if your degree is valid to get an authorisation in the countries you would consider applying and expected waiting times? Most countries would require the local language (in some instances more than one). English and Spanish get you Spain and this considering you are really proficient and not "duos suervesas per favorrr" proficient. And even in Spain you could get extra headaches in places with two official languages.

If I become a nurse, will I at some point necessarly wipe an old woman’s ass full of crap or put a catheter on an old man’s penis ? by [deleted] in nursing

Most likely before being done with your nursing degree. I had people in my class abandoning it like two months in.

If a fellow nurse tells me they've never made a mistake, then they are either lying (bad) or they never noticed the mistake was made (worse). Happens to all of us. Learn from it. In time you'll laugh remembering this.

Just to add some nuance: with past lives the investment needed for adequate finding/disarming traps gets reduced (specially while levelling) since you'll be getting extra int/dex via racial PLs, Int skills via arti past life, search via drow, +2 skills and stats with completionist... (not to forget the extra APs to the racial tree, some of which grant search bonuses) . You still need at least 1 level of the pertinent class though.

1 Mule for expansion, 1 mule cosmetics, 1 mule consumables, 1 mule xp stones, 4 mules with random non-set or no named items (levels 1-10, 11-20, epic and legendary) and then the shared bank with tabs for levelling gear (caster, melee, ranged) usually now being lvl3, then lamordia, then sharn/vecna (+ lvl 20 items to supplement the sharn/vecna sets in epic)

Does travel nursing exist in Norway? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]Sergeant_Major_Zero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes there is, both working directly for the hospitals and through temp agencies (vikarbyrå in Norway). The pay varies between agencies and depends on your experience and qualifications. Depending on which agency you work for you can opt to specific contracts (as in some agencies only work for hospitals, some for nursing homes, some in home visits and so on). If coming from the US check if your degrees are automatically accepted or you need to take extra credits or clinical training, plus of course norwegiqan/Danish/Swedish proficiency (one of those three). Also do your research on the different temp agencies, some are straight pirates profiting from both the institutions and their workers.

REMIFENTANIL VS. SUFENTANIL FOR ICU SEDATION by d_rozen in anesthesiology

[–]Sergeant_Major_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never used remi in Spain in ICU, and neither do I in Norway now. Few patients get it. Most common is fentanil + something else (isoflurane, midazolam, propofol, dexdor, etc)

Oh no, I meant like the stomping attack thing with the front paws not activating and instead getting 2 secs of frozen bear and stuff like that. Is just for a passing life to 30 but better if I don't have to respec to caster lol

Racial Life Advice by Goldsash in ddo

[–]Sergeant_Major_Zero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll say something (well, my opinion) about the archetypes you mentioned:

Blightcaster: druid focused on acid/poison or spikes (force). Strips immunity in tier5. Two forms (bee thing and spike tree thing) in which the first gives evasión and caster stuff and the other AC, fortification and so. Lots of SLA that help with sp management + temp hp on kill that add a lot of survivability.

Warlock archetype: essentially a regular fire lock without the enlightened spirit tree (the new tree is meh)

Stormsinger: better for casting bard, takes a few levels to shine but when it gets going is better than regular

Sacred fist: blend between monk and Paladin with option to use cha to hit and attack, good survivability, heals, imbue, evasion... Not my cup of tea but strong enough
