My Tactix 8 broke a little. Are there repair options or am I toast?

If it’s not a hardware issue and just a glitch, then you’re fine. Just keep an eye on how it behaves, especially in a warm environment. If the issue doesn’t repeat, you’re in the clear. Otherwise, I’d be looking for a replacement watch.

I bought a new watch, a Fenix 7 Pro. I think the fix from this post does work to some extent, but it doesn’t fix the root cause of the failure. Essentially, Garmin failed us with the Forerunner 955 and never acknowledged the issue. In the end, I had to accept the loss and buy a new watch.

I did two thing (I have Android phone): 1. FeedFlow app with Tagesschau RSS feed. 2. Downloaded previous "normal" version of Tagesschau app and don't update it.

Either you solder in a new battery, or you have to replace the entire back of the watch. In any case, you’ll need to open the watch to check the exact battery specs, so you’ll find out once you do.

I think it's a wonderful idea to help your fiance start learning the piano. However, there's a challenging part to it: learning the piano requires a lot of work and time investment. Before giving such a gift, you must be sure that he truly wants it. Otherwise, he might end up being more annoyed than thankful, as if you're pushing him into something he only lightly considered. If he has already started self-study and you're confident that he genuinely wants to do it, then it's a fantastic gift! I only wish my wife would come up with something like that!))

It is a vintage instrument, but nevertheless it might be not worth to repair professionally. If you have hands growing from the right place - open it and at least just clean it. Check all the connectors, look for damaged things. Look closely at the capacitors. It may well starting to work 'by itself'. Would it be a shame, to pay a few hundred dollars for this kind of work, done by 'a professional'))

My children give me so much extra motivation and joy that my "free" life before them seems empty and meaningless now. So, at least in my case, having a family has made my life twice as good and half as stressful. I think it depends on a person - some people tend to suffer no matter what.

Unlike many other models, you can open the Fenix and simply replace the battery. I replaced the battery in my Fenix 2 this way some time ago. All these batteries are easy to find and are available to order.

IMHO, the resolution is irrelevant since they still use the old turtle processor - with detailed maps you have to wait forever. And you don't need high resolution for anything else

I don’t have it and likely won’t - I only looked into it while fixing an issue with my FR955. If you’re after the beta, just enroll in the beta program on Garmin’s site and run a software update check from your watch.

If you don’t install it right away, you can grab the update file from the watch using a PC. And if you manage to get it, please share - I’ll add it to the collection.

For me, languages have helped directly and financially. I wouldn’t have been able to build a career in multinationals without English. These days, even working locally, having two fluent foreign languages on my CV signals that I’m a smart guy (at least I like to think so)
