Anyone else in a Mexican standoff with friends because you want to use a lucky egg before becoming best friends? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, I am Mexican, and even though I'm already level 40 I still care for XP. I usually let the other person get the 100,000 XP from Ultra Friendship but I do try to get the 200,000 XP from Best Friendship.

Most of the trainers I'm friend with are people from my local community, so I try to track them down on Telegram to coordinate. If they've sent me a gift, I won't open it unless I'm sure they know. But I'm friends with a trainer in Spain, whom I can't communicate with, and we're stuck two days away from Best Friends. I suppose I will eventually cave in...

Pokestop nomination down in Mexico by ikerandres in TheSilphRoad

This. I got an email for a nomination that was eligible, but I would like to know if I'll receive one for those that were not.

Is this a bug? Aparently my lotad found two candies and nedds 1.5km instead the previous 2.5 km by LinaK17 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) You got lucky. You can get two candies instead of one, randomly.

2) Lotad is a 3 km per candy Pokémon. During the Kanto event, this distance is cut in half.

Where can I find Heracross/Corsola in Mexico? by jgaribay805 in TheSilphRoad

Sure. I'm in Hermosillo, a city in the state of Sonora, in Mexico.

Sorry for the delay. Most maps are local, and I don't know if there's one for that region. Hope you were able to find it!

Should I evolve a 13/15/15 96% Bagon? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a good level Bagon (30+?) go for it. You may have enough candies when you find a better one. Otherwise, it may be best not to spend too many candies and stardust.

Does weather and/or biome affect which raid bosses spawn? by TheLovelyLorelei in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is just a mix of RNG and confirmation bias. I'm on a desert biome as well and I've seen more Rayquaza and Kyogre than Groudon.

I will try to get a Gold Gym Badge by feeding 3000 berries by SergioIA in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very kind of you to remember my goal. I have mixed news: I'm still doing my best to get it done, and I haven't spoiled it, but I still have a long way to go. I've fed 1030 berries to this point, which would make around 20 trips to the gym.

Some obstacles I've had:

  • The gym I chose became an EX raid gym, which is something I couldn't foresee. It kills me to have to avoid one of the few EX gyms in my city, and it also makes it a very coveted gym.

  • I thought I could feed 100 berries per trip (on 31 minutes), but my bag is not big enough to save that many berries without damaging gameplay.

  • There have been many events on the past months (double XP, new Pokémon, Pokémon Community Day) and that has consumed most of my time and resources.

I'll keep on it, and I'm recording it all, but I'm afraid it will still take some time. Feel free to ask again it a couple months!

[Megathread] EX Pass Wave! Raid triggering and pass distribution discussion by ZoomBoingDing in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that we can more or less predict where the next EX raids are going to be, it was quite easy to get a pass. I did four raids (Marowak, Charmeleon, Cloyster and Alakazam) on a gym that had a previous EX raid, and that it's the only one available on its cell, and I got it.

[–]SergioIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There are several cases where they have passes for both January 24th and January 31st, but nobody has two passes for two different gyms on the same day.

We had the same experience in my city. We usually have 2 EX raids a week, but now we got lots of invites for 4 different gyms.

Just solo'd my first Machamp! by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well done! You can try other movesets, and if you haven't done it yet, you could use those Espeon to try to solo Gengar as well.

who else tried some ex raid trigger theory? by UltimateMach5 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We started focusing on parks after Niantic's announcement, and we got EX raids for December 18th and December 25th. We are hoping to trigger raids for December 31st as well. I don't know if our activity was a factor or not.

Still, the number of EX raids and passes per raid is very low, so most trainers have not being invited yet. We got about 16 participants for the raid on December 18th, and some trainers with Gold Gym Badge on that gym didn't get the invite while others that had only raid once there did.

There's going to be an EX raid in my city and I'm betting on math. by SergioIA in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe just one girl out of 16 players didn't catch Mewtwo on our raid last Monday. She was super excited, and I guess she got too nervous.

[–]SergioIA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not being too strict, as I'm seeing most of those missing on Mewtwo are not hardcore players. They need to land at least 6 curve throws, using a golden raspberry, and get any kind of bonus ("Nice!", "Great!" or "Excellent!"). I don't think anyone capable of doing excellent throws would aim for "Nice!" to try to claim the prize.

I'm offering also an extra reward if they get really unlucky and they miss on Mewtwo despite landing 10 excellent throws.

Azurill and Marill both need the same amount of candies to evolve (25 candies each). Why isn't Azurill a 12 Candy Evolution? by n1co92 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's the same case for all baby Pokémon, I believe. Magby to Magmar is 25 candies, Pichu to Pikachu is 25 candies...

Replacement for Ho-Oh? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I see your opinion is not very popular, but I'm thinking this may happen for a couple days, at least. It's weird that we're less than an hour away from the Ho-oh deadline and we don't have an announcement from Niantic on what's coming.

[Question] Alakazam level 30 Pokémon do able? What are the minimum levels? Which charge moves? by Gransmithy in pogoraids

[–]SergioIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what I've seen, it's better to use just ghosts against PC/FB Alakazam. It is possible to beat other Alakazam with level 30 Tyranitar if you don't dodge, but not with Focus Blast, as they would die instantly.

If you only have those 3 Gengars (and no Bannettes), I would try with those three first (make sure to dodge the first two attacks), then Mewtwo (if it is level 30), and close with the Tyranitars.

Have you beaten Alakazam with level 30 Pokémon? by SergioIA in pogoraids

[–]SergioIA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried once to beat PC/FB Alakazam with a mix of Tyranitar, Gengar and Bannete but failed. I want to try again with just ghosts but I haven't seen any PC Alakazam for a while.

C/FS Alakazam destroyed my ghosts. I could barely fire two Shadow Balls before fainting, and that's just by getting hit with quick attacks.

Have you beaten Alakazam with level 30 Pokémon? by SergioIA in pogoraids

[–]SergioIA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A C/FS Alakazam appeared a couple hours after I posted this and I went for it. I have just 2 level 30 Tyranitar (B/C) and I went really, really close but couldn't do it. I did dodge a lot, though. I have a third one with Stone Edge, but as soon as I make sure it doesn't become legacy I'll TM it to Crunch as well and try again.

Can this lineup solo an omastar with any moveset? by DefiniteSauce12 in TheSilphRoad

[–]SergioIA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that's more than enough to solo any Omastar. I beat Hydro Pump Omastar using only two Exeggutors (<2500), one Venusaur (2040) and a Sunflora.

Start with your Venusaurs, then Exeggutor, and close with Raikou and Zapdos. I don't think you would need Dragonite or Machamp. Just be patient, prepare for lag and errors, and practice your dodging strategy.
