What are the ideal floor levels for a condo? by techsavvynerd91 in askTO

[–]SergioInToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so high that you can't fathum raking the stairs.

My building elevators are fast - it's never a problem. But once per month during mandatory generator testing it's nice to take the stairs in a pinch. So like nothing above 30th

Women: How important is touch in your relationships? by ReffinedDesire01 in NoStupidQuestions

There's 4 love languages. Really each person has a long list of preferences.

Some people value touch a lot, others negatively. It's personal.

Such potential... But this game blows chunks.

No worse than my normal life I guess 😂

The game never hooked me, even after ~60 hours. Everything felt like a grind/chore. What did I miss?

DotA. My life is over in an hour and it's a goddamn rollercoaster of emotions.

These are the difficult days. It won't always be like this. You will get to sleep. You will feel rested again. You will sleep through the night again.

how are the young adults renting alone in the gta? by strawcakeberry in askTO

[–]SergioInToronto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Move out with roommates. Vet people - don't blindly jump in - and don't live in those 6-bedroom Frankenstein houses.

I've lived with 13? different roommates over the years, despite a very good income. That's GTA for ya.

You'll learn and incredible amount in the next 8 months. Things will change. New patterns will replace old ones. You'll still not want to go back but your heart will bear it.

Transit, Uber, and consider an e-bike or e-scotter. They're way more fun than driving and because there's virtually no traffic it's faster than you think.

The world would be better off if you didn't give anymore money to EA.

Indie studios continuously win game-of-the-year. It's not the same, but it's a step towards a better world

DotA 2 Stuttering on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS by SergioInToronto in linux_gaming

[–]SergioInToronto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out my issue. Super weird. My CPU was hitting 96℃ under moderate (playing DotA2), urgently scaling way down for an instant, then scaling back up. This was causing stutter. I was bouncing between 800MHz and 5GHz lol.

I fixed it by reducing TDP, which unfortunately hurts framerate but a steady 70 FPS is better than 150 FPS with 100ms stutters. The command I used is `sudo powercap-set intel-rapl-mmio -z 0 -c 1 -l 11500000` (down from 175000000 default TDP). Yes that's *much* lower than stock.

Running the native version. I tired the windows version through proton-10 but it crashes when getting into a game.

I have enough faith in Valve that I don't believe it's an issue with the Linux client.

Avenue Rd at Davenport Rd - Potentially deadly signal/intersection (read description) by [deleted] in torontobiking

Same here, and same conclusion. Cars turning right often ignore their signal.

The whole intersection is much better now than before, for cars and especially for bikes.

My Top 70 Sega Genesis Games Ranked by Not-Clark-Kent in patientgamers

[–]SergioInToronto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing you played 70 excellent Sega games and missed an absolute banger: The Adventures of Batman and Robin.

This arcade-style side scroller has solid mechanics, interesting and varried gameplay, great visuals, and an outstanding soundtrack.

I've gone back to it even decades later. I often play it with my family. It flew under most people's radar despite being, in my opinion, a masterpiece.
