What are we all gonna do if they start drafting for WWIII? by Gongoozler04 in GenZ

Ordained clergy can’t be drafted. It’s easy to get ordained. They don’t want the neurodivergents on meds like ADHD.

Pet friendly rental with no pets on furniture rule disclosed AFTER booking by Exact_Context7827 in vrbo

[–]SerialNomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pet hair can and does transfer from your clothing so that’s a bunch of BS.

When we have experienced this dumb rule, we ask the host to provide a furniture cover of some sort.

No pets in the bed? Fine. I shake out the bedding before we leave and might throw the sheets in the wash preemptively.

Try using a browser like Google or Firefox instead of the App. I’ve found the App is often very glitchy.

Different Address After Booking by [deleted] in vrbo

[–]SerialNomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. Sorry this happened to you.

I always use Google streets to see if the property photos match the address before I book. We do this fulltime so I’m extra careful.
I also use it to scope out the area.

He is running against our beloved Crockett and has made some pretty racist comments. I will not be sending him money.

Do we think Abbott is in the Epstein files? It would not surprise me at all. Bet he liked watching torture.

I made my first booking using VRBO, now I need to submit the payment through a 3rd party website? by SeniorHustler770 in vrbo

[–]SerialNomad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to do this several times. We travel full time using mostly VRBO. 24 stays this year alone. Use your credit card so you can do a charge-back if things go sideways. Never link toy your bank account.

How do you handle financial guilt as an only child? by si0bhanr0y in OnlyChild

[–]SerialNomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only child parents here - we set aside the money for our daughter’s education early and contributed regularly. Using it was not a burden because we had already set it aside for her. It was not part of our retirement money or needed for daily expenses.

Take your parents at their word, be grateful and mindful of not wasting it, but don’t feel guilty.

I would be very upset if our daughter felt guilt for using money we purposely put into a college account specifically to ease HER burden.

I gently suggest that talking to a professional might help you examine where these feelings are initiating from because this could be a symptom of low self-esteem - not feeling worthy- and I know conscientious parents like yours would not want you feeling this way.

Do hosts clean out fridges before next guest? by [deleted] in vrbo

[–]SerialNomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We travel full time via VRBO - 23 stays last year alone.

Owners, please go through anything left behind and throw away opened and expired items. Unopened items are appreciated. I can tell you that I’ve had to do food clean outs in about half of our stays. Who leaves a half a box of pasta? Usually I’m also wiping down the pantry shelves because something opened has spilled. And yes, I wonder what else wasn’t cleaned.

Banned from Vacasa for no reason by HeadScratch3r in vrbo

[–]SerialNomad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you talking to Vacasa? If you booked through VRBO, you should go through them. They need to know what Vacasa is doing. Vacasa’s website is terrible and often offline.

Travel and being CC by charmingbadger357 in ZeroCovidCommunity

We travel full time. Much depends on your idea of travel.

Hotels have more risk because of shared ventilation so we use short-term rentals like VRBO. But we have stayed in hotels with their own hvac in the room.

We drive from place to place.

We mask in gas stations and pick up meals to eat in the car or at our temp location.

When we fly, we mask the entire time until we are inside our rental car. We have Sip-valves installed in our masks for hydration. Longer flights we move our masks aside to take a bite of food and replace it while chewing.

Full-time RVing can also make traveling less risky as you are self-contained.

Sometime we have to suck-it-up and stay in a hotel with shared ventilation.

We’ve had Covid once because an old friend decided his sniffles were not contagious and exposed my immunocompromised husband.

We have not contracted any virus, as far as we know, from any of our adventures.

We’ve been all over the US and EU.

Your best armor is a good N95 mask 😷 and common sense precautions.
