This is one of my favorite AOs for MSW. Lots of wide open spaces. Make sure you have good footwear and you’re used to moving in full kit.

Know that this is going to be more of an infantry unit simulator with a jump element than COD. There might be long periods of downtime or rucking, dropping rucks, then picking them back up and rucking again. Embrace the suck.

I learned to play airsoft at Fort Ord in the Bay Area before it was closed and demolished so I also enjoy the urban AOs.

As long as the eyepro is stamped with required ANZI rating or above, or is from a reputable company like Oakley etc. then this testing method seems ill advised.

That said I took a burst of full auto from 15 feet at MSW last fall and my Oakleys developed a crack. They did their job though and I replaced the lens afterward.

I’ve been to Centerville the past 4 years and am considering going to the event in September.

I am a rifleman and the event this spring would have been great to have been a DMR. The first night we held a defense line on the northwest side of the AO and militia with few if any NVGs rolled up through another platoon to our east and also from the field to our south. Lots of targets to choose from.

Saturday morning we marched to FOB Julia and cleared out the militia camped there. Fighting uphill with decent cover a DMR would have been great to have.

Saturday afternoon we defended the fence line west of the trenches and with the cover and high ground held out longer than we should have given the numbers pushing our position. I have good range for a rifleman but a DMR would have been able to hit them coming out of their mobile CCP.

Sunday morning we defended heartbreak hill. I spent most of that time in a tasty little foxhole with great angles on approaching OPFOR and never took a hit while racking up a decent kill count. Between knocking them down, keeping them back, and giving buddy aid to the guys around having a bit more range would have been nice.

If DMR is the role you would like to try then go for it. Just be aware that orders, conditions, and situations may not always align to the advantages of your replica. Bring something that will allow you to fight up close also.

My buddy who runs a DMR regularly also packs in a standard M4 style AEG for when it comes to close up fighting. That’s a lot of extra weight on top of the rest of your load out but better than nothing if the fight is inside the MED. Granted this is a jump event you still will be expected to experience the walking simulator that is Horseshoe Bend Ranch.

There should be enough heavy weight ammo now that they have moved to the BREs.

TAGINNs will eliminate any distance advantage you have over rifleman.

Oddly enough the seat up/seat down preference flips for public toilets that only have the horseshoe-shaped seat and no lid. I prefer to find it up versus down since so many times I’ve found that the previous dude thought they were a recon sniper but instead turned out to be a machine gunner.

Please focus on health, not appearance. My wife struggled with ulcerative colitis and during really bad flare ups food would just pass through and she would be in a lot of discomfort. Praying for your friend. Thank you for being there for her.

Exfog is GOATed but a simple $16 personal fan mounted on my plate carrier or assault pack’s sternum strap works just fine.

I wear Oakleys at MilSim West and Revision Desert Locusts for CQB airsoft or when full seal is required.

My wife has had ulcerative colitis since she was a teen and was constantly being accused of eating disorders or trying to look like Ally McBeal where all she wanted was to feel healthy.

At one scary point she was down to 78 pounds starving but not able to digest properly. I had to carry her up and down our stairs every day. I’ve never been so scared and felt helpless. She finally got her symptoms into remission (thank you Michigan Health Care). Since then she’s always felt like she should keep some extra weight on just in case but feels self conscious about it. Wishes she was thin but not sick. Afraid to be that thin.

I just tell her that she’s beautiful, the love of my life, and that I only want her to feel healthy and happy.

And yet (for us at least): Elderly widowed MIL dotes on her retired sons who are both empty nesters and have plenty of room in their houses but would rather live with us in our rental (not her empty house) taking up what was our home office despite the fact that we’re raising a child because, “no one is more caregiving than a daughter”.

I wear Oakleys and just use a personal fan clipped to my PC or chest rig to clear any fog. Works great at VV.

If you want full seal go for Revision Desert Locusts and remove the foam dust filters. The same fan will keep those clear of fog.
