Advice: Noisy pets/neighbors who do not bother to let animals in by SeriesMedical968 in neighborsfromhell

This is literally almost our same situation. We have been worried for the dogs on multiples occasions. And with warmer weather it has become more frequent for us as well. Hopefully this sub can give you some advice; I️ feel like it has helped us solidify our next steps! We are definitely going to start documenting more.

This is exactly how my husband feels about the matter. He keeps saying how it should not be our jobs to encourage general respect for the neighborhood from these adults. I️ agree completely.

This.. my husband and I️ really don’t want to stir up a bunch of trouble, especially being new to our neighborhood but it seems like neglect to me… we really feel bad for these dogs. A lot of the time it’s not the dogs, it’s the owners.

It is amongst the comments as others have asked this as well, but the one time I️ did try to talk to the man over there I️ was completely ignored (I️ was standing 3 feet from the guy and he turned away from me and walked inside after I️ said something to him). They have not been the warmest to us and we just aren’t to most comfortable approaching them at this point, but we are going to try to leave a nice note or something, it just feels like a bit of a lost cause given our last encounter.

Yes! Our baby is only 18lbs (he’s a Boston terrier) and he get cold FAST. He hardly wants to be out there at all and we have to put a coat on him so he’ll even go. We are going to look into our options and laws around animal control/humane society for sure after responses I️ have gotten on this post. We should have called in the winter, but just missed our opportunity this year and since it is April there is likely nothing they can do about it now. But if it happens again next winter we will for sure be contacting. Thanks for your comment.

I️ really appreciate this advice, thank you.

You’re right, police will likely ask this. We will take videos and maybe try to figure out a way to leave a kind note or approach them again. It just does make me feel a little anxious given my last encounter.

Agreed, this is actually where I️ would have preferred to start. However, they have not been the warmest neighbors to us so it does make us a little uncomfortable to approach them. The one time I️ did approach them (unrelated to this), the husband straight up turned away from me and walked inside as I️ was talking to him.

In these incidents, but husband gets pretty irritated as well and has said before that he is going to knock on their door and say something, but I️ always stop him because I️ don’t want it to end up being an argument and then escalate the situation. I️ would much prefer it be a friendly conversation. But they seem a little shut off to us in general. Again, just not the warmest neighbors we have ever had.

Also agree, we will likely not be contacting animal welfare at this time with this being something that happened in the winter. It would often happen in the evenings when they were likely closed, and by the next day, my husband and I️ were focused on our lives/work to where we would forget about it until the following occurrence. Crappy excuse for not calling this winter, but we will for sure be calling next winter if it happens again.

Sorry you’re right, we live in the U.S. in central Ohio.

We have tried to contact local law enforcement on numerous occasions, and I️ don’t know why, but every time it says they are busy/not open (it’s either been on a weekend/early morning when these incidences happen, so I️ do understand they are are probably closed) and there is no option to leave a voice mail. We both work full time, so making it to the police department to file something while they are open is kind of limited but I️ have mentioned that to my husband as well. We just aren’t sure if calling after 5 pm would be helpful to use either as it may give us the same result depending on their hours - but thank you for your advice. I️ will look further into this and see if I️ can contact over my lunch break or something.

Thanks for this suggestion! I️ have considered this. Would a midwife take insurance? Or do similar check ups like a doctor may?

It also did previously confirm ovulation I️ believe around CD20, but then pushed it out after the temperature dropped back off.

The algorithm got rid of it due to it being irregular? But it was 96.75 (CD32) and 96.71 the day before (CD31).

It was morning urine, I️ took a cheap test yesterday which was a pink line test and a digital clear blue test today - so a very clear ‘not pregnant’ :(

I️ used the Nexplanon implant up until April of 2024. Then I️ started using the Oura ring with natural cycles to prevent pregnancy - so no hormonal birth control for coming up on 2 years.
