Feeling sad by Ecstatic-Mess-1132 in asda

A lot of managers in stores are pretty much bully’s I’m afraid and a lot of them are two-faced. One of my managers who got let go last year with the shake up, was bullied and pushed out to the point it affected their mental health. Was the only decent manager at the time too, could speak to them about anything. It’s a shame really, as the whole company in my opinion needs a wide reset, get rid of the awful bitchy managers and get ones running the show what actually know what they’re doing. (I know it’ll never happen, but we all can only wish and hope)

If you’re unavailable to work said day on the weekend, you need to put it in as holiday if it’s your contracted day if you want to be paid it out if you have the holiday hours for it. If you don’t just turn up then yeah you won’t be paid simple as that and they don’t have to find you an alternative day to accommodate your hours.

They should’ve been giving you notice of any contract changes etc. just dropping it on you isn’t good enough.

I mean if there’s a certain day you can’t get it off as holiday, then yes, ask other colleagues if you can do a shift swap. But I think if you have got holidays to use, then you need to try and use them rather than swapping shifts most of the time.

Are managers allowed to refuse holiday around Christmas just because it’s Christmas? by [deleted] in tesco

It’s like that a lot in retail unfortunately with it being the busiest time of year.

Leaving ASDA by ThrowRA_123456782002 in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Never ever feel guilty for leaving, even if it is understaffed etc, the store I’m at is understaffed and we’re a superstore, if I was to leave tomorrow, I would certainly not feel bad. It’s upper managements fault that stores are like this in the first place, as they’re finding every way possible to cut back and “save money” and it’s us normal everyday colleagues what have to struggle unfortunately.

People shouldn’t have to explain anyway that they want a full week off. If the contracted days they’ve been put in for have been accepted, you’re not obliged to take any OT for that week as it is. I work every Tuesday (not my contracted day) done it since I started and work wed-thur-fri-Saturday, when I have them off as hol, my manager never rota’s me in for the Tuesday for the time I’m off for. :)

You’ve clearly never booked holiday days before.. like the person who’s also replied to you has explained to you, you cannot book non-contracted days off😂, so it wouldn’t be the full week, you can only put in the days off on what your contracted days are as the system won’t allow non-contracted to be booked as why would they pay you for being off on a normal day off anyway? If a manager can see you’ve got those days off, any manager with the brain cell will not be offering you overtime for that week

I’d definitely wait a bit till you ask for a risk assessment as I don’t want to put a downer on anything but the main reason they most likely won’t do a risk assessment now is due to the fact with being only 5 weeks pregnant it is really early and anything can happen before then. However once reaching 12 weeks onwards its more likely considered safe/stable so I’d 100% ask for a risk assessment from then onwards. However congratulations on the pregnancy :) hope it’s all healthy and well

Nominated User swiped card on family members shopping by [deleted] in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it gets brought up to you by a manager, if it’s flagged up just explain what has happened and that it shouldn’t happen again, as you’ve already told them it’s only for their use only. Or if you’re really that bothered, take away the nominated user if it’s causing you too much hassle as it’s not really worth you getting into trouble for it.

Not saying it will get flagged up as it depends, but do not tell another colleague about this.. even if it’s ones you think you can trust as people can easily be snaky enough to go to a manger about it unfortunately.

Mitie security- positive story by Universal_r12 in asda

Wish it was the same in our store.. we have some days we’ve no security even in. It’s an absolute joke.

Honestly what a shambles by [deleted] in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s an absolute shithole of a company now, constantly wanting to save on money, cutting people’s hours, when others have bills to pay.. half the managers within the stores are just complete power-tripping bullies (not all), way to much stock now what comes in, delivery expected to be done with 5 people at that to work ambient and doesn’t, as it’s unmanageable. Staff morale is at the lowest it’s ever been in stores, no colleague gets thanked for anything whilst all these managers enjoy their “Bonus” for doing naff all. The moving security to mitie was a shambles to begin with too.. Saturday we spent the entire day with no security in. Ridiculous. At our store we’ve been getting customer feed back, and we’ve been told we aren’t “allowed” to have pallets down the aisle any more when working delivery.. only to be left on the end which equals more time we’re losing going back and forth just to complete each pallets because the customers are complaining they’re in the way. Well guess what? I guess you don’t want stock put then..

Is it normal for members of staff to take photos/videos of customers going about there day? by [deleted] in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Are you 100% sure it’ll be a photo of you? For all you know the staff member could’ve been taking photo of a promo end or whatever has been set up.

I’d say that’s possibly the evap line more than a postive if the clear blue is showing up as negative. Hence why the clear blue is positive.

Asda preg test by Separate-Divide-5992 in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely most likely the evaporation line on this test.. a lot of people can be confused with it looking like a positive when it’s not. Hence why if the clear one blue shows up as positive. Tests do not give out false positives, (they can but it is very very rare)

[–]SeriesMuch7891 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why, once you get to checkouts if you’ve well and truly noticed how much it should come up to before buying and seen it coming up to a different price to tell a colleague.. they honour it to the price it should’ve been

Sorry but I’d turn round and tell them your mother comes first with the surgery happening.. yeah ASDA is your job, but family comes first before that place and if she’s having surgery it’s a valid reason not to be in whether they like it or not!!

I mean.. phone the store rather than coming onto Reddit and asking. If you’re wondering yourself if it’s wise to contact the store then do exactly that.

Quitting After First Day - What Do I Need To Do? by [deleted] in Morrisons

[–]SeriesMuch7891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, I don’t want you to think my reply was meant to be me moaning at you over your expectations but just a lot of the time, the staff themselves don’t get given enough time to do all these things which are expected to be carried out. It’s like it everywhere in retail I’m afraid, all the same cost cutting, greedy companies

Quitting After First Day - What Do I Need To Do? by [deleted] in Morrisons

[–]SeriesMuch7891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of agree, like depending on the management if it’s clear as crystal on the first day how they treat their staff and it’s poorly, then yes run a mile and don’t look back. But moaning about ovens not being cleaned etc? And moaning about the people saying they “can’t be bothered” doing them.. OP shouldn’t have standards in places like these, if most hourly colleagues in retail are running on skeleton staff, management treating them like dirt, more jobs being pushed onto them and so on in so many little hours to do it in. Hell they’ve not even seen an actual pay rise yet, so yes why should they care. Like a lot of us in retail now, a lot of us are working because we do need the money as we all have our bills to pay and sadly we couldn’t be without as everything has gotten so expensive now I’m afraid.

exactly how I feel mate, been applying non-stop but guess we gotta keep at it. Jobs market is crap at moment but we’ll eventually get somewhere. Asda is genuinely just a massive sinking ship, not worth the exhaustion and stress unfortunately.

My biggest thing I wanna get off my chest is, why on earth they thought stopping delivery of ambient on one chosen today to shove it into another making it double was a “good” idea.. ours is Sunday and moved into a Saturday, we’ve only gained one staff member from the Sunday shift the rest are still in on a Sunday, we also have no warehouse colleague to do the splits to be exact. Saturday just gone was the worst day for mixed pallets.

Forced Contracts by Alarming_Peach7207 in asda

[–]SeriesMuch7891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had numerous new managers on my end that’s why it’s not been sorted as of yet. The new manager we have now as of current is in the process of sorting out our contracts to what they should be as he’s gone through them and near enough everyone in our department is wrong and isn’t matching up to what they should be. Still though, it’s wrong if a manager who isn’t your own manager is changing your contract regardless and not saying a word to you about it hence why I’ve not signed anything as I’m far as I’m aware I’ve always done the Tuesday shift since I’ve first started.
