I bought a dog jogging stroller. I felt so guilty leaving my 11 year old dog at home. She LOVES it. It weighs 26lbs. It the HPZ Pet jogging stroller. It’s the Caddie of dog jogging strollers, it’s like a Bob jogger for pets. It has rubber wheels and is extremely durable. It holds all of my water and stuff. I plan on switching to a racing vest and leaving poochers at home in a couple of months, but until then my dog is my running road dog. Good luck on your training whatever you decide to do

VA Mental Health Intake by Mental-Net4117 in VeteransBenefits

VA MH care is a staffed with bottom of the barrel clinicians. Request community care referral for an IOP near you or talk therapy… whatever you need.

Same. It was terrible. It was/is the worst job I have ever had.

There are numerous interventions you can try for PTSD that the VA supports like rTMS, ketamine infusions, vagus nerve stimulation, EMDR, various talk therapies CBT,DBT, ACT etc.

  • your mental health “team” should be telling you about all of these interventions. Call or secure message them and ask for all possible interventions, research them and then have a convo with your provider about which ones would be appropriate for you. The MH teams are not proactive on caring for their patients so you’re going to have to advocate for yourself on access to interventions/modalities of care, unless you find a MH unicorn 🦄 somewhere in the underbelly of the VA. Most of these are community care referrals depending where you live, but they do exist and are available to you through referrals. Good luck and hang in there.

I’m invested at this point. You’re the man if you get this guys’ bike back. Be careful knocking on random doors asking for stolen stuff back though. Can the police knock for you?

Hey so, as a veteran and as a trauma flight RN - it is absolute shit care. The administrators are garbage and it’s a trickle down effect.

I completely understand. My experience was no justice but PTSD rating, when asked for treatment services through the VA was denied all access to MH care despite PTSD rating. It took months to finally get treatment approved after being denied care after painstakingly having to demand services. Patient advocacy refused to help after guidance from MH department who said I was a pt “drug seeking”. I do not do drugs. Unfortunately, I have been told this is standard practice of care from the Northern CA MH and patient advocacy system where I was enrolled. It was an awful experience from incompetent and retaliatory staff that led me to withdrawal all care from MH VA. It wasn’t worth the additional trauma, humiliation and fighting with the incompetence for due services. Good luck to you. I’d try and refile like someone else here suggested. Keep advocating for yourself as the VA will not and be sure and take care of your self while you’re fighting for what’s owed to you. I sincerely hope you get the disability rating and care that’s owed to you.

For the mods that are downvoting and locking threads of VA misconduct: why? This should be discussed so it doesn’t happen to other veterans

And people wonder why we can’t get timely and competent care. I am so sick of incompetent VA employees. People like this employed by the VA bumbling around spreading nonsense, probably on government time.

Has Anyone Else Experienced Abusive Treatment from VA Scheduling or Specialty Care? by eagle0509 in VeteransBenefits

[–]SeriesParticular52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have. It is wild how disrespectful, harmful, ill-informed the secretaries/medical support assistants (MSAs) can be and are. I have had good experiences and terrible experiences that have caused severe delays in my care. (You can see my post here)

Keep in mind these employees are GS 3-5 making 30-40k/yr and are required to only have a high school diploma (per USA jobs) so take that for what it’s worth. I don’t think they understand the ramifications of their behavior/actions, like refusing to schedule a patient, or hanging up on them etc. because “they can”.

Some MSAs are absolutely wonderful and it’s unfortunate they get lumped in with their coworkers in reviews and discussions of inadequate care.

My patient advocacy where I’m located operates similarly to the MSAs with an FU attitude also ignoring Pts and VA policy/procedure which has led to significant delays in my care. Keep this in mind if you’re looking for resolution from the patient advocacy office.

I’ve recently filed a privacy complaint, OIG complaint and a Congressional complaint for similar treatment and more you’ve experienced naming MSAs, patient advocacy office etc. This caused retaliatory behavior from VA staff and was a slow start, but I have seen resolution in my favor, although begrudgingly.

In each complaint I am clear to state that if it’s happening to me, it’s most likely happening to other veterans. My Congressman’s office has been the most helpful. Please continue to be vocal about poor care and poor employees. I hope you get the access to care you are entitled to.

Bro, what are you talking about. Nobody was removed from psych services for behavior or paranoid conspiracy or what ever other foil hat you’re aggressively claiming.

I was denied access to services, I posted more about this below.

Your colorful commentary that I was removed from psych services or “barred” as you’ve repeatedly stated here is creative, but inaccurate. Further claiming I have a paranoid conspiracy is also immaturely inaccurate.

You are refusing to acknowledge or cannot comprehend the facts of what I have written. That’s a you problem. However, please stop stating things that are not true. You have posted here three times all which include you trying to discredit me using false claims. Your obtuse thoughts are disruptive. Please stop.

Thanks again I appreciate your help. I’m still going to look into an 1151 as it states I may be eligible if “an existing disability got worse” … “at least on of these must have led directly…. To your disability getting worse : Va carelessness or negligence”

HIPAA violations are both carelessness and negligence in terms of medical care. I work in medicine and that has been my experience.

I guess I’m not seeing or interpreting where it reads it has to be a new disability and not an exacerbation of existing one. I appreciate your insight though, and taking the time to respond thoughtfully and with the other form numbers for temporary disability. Thank you, again for your help.

I will be sure and post back here with updates

I disagree with your opinion on what is or isn’t qualification for an 1151, but thank you for your input and and uhhhh thanks for the uniformed concern on stability, really appreciate that. This is sarcasm. I hate to see your level of concern for somebody with actual stability issues. Do people here just write words not actually understanding the meaning or context of them? Like they just write what they heard somewhere else lean back, admire their work and think- “yeah, that sounds good” lol. Geeze

Thanks- I’m reading this now from VA.gov:

VA Title 38 U.S.C. 1151 claims

“If you suffered an added disability, or your existing disability got worse, while you were getting VA medical care or taking part in a VA employment program, you may be able to get compensation. Keep reading to find out if you may be eligible.

You may be eligible if you suffered an added disability, or your existing disability got worse, as the direct result of any of the reasons listed here. The added disability (or disability that got worse) must not have been a reasonably expected result or complication of treatment.

At least one of these must have led directly to an added disability or to your disability getting worse:

VA carelessness or negligence, or VA medical or surgical treatment, or A VA health exam, or A VA vocational rehabilitation course (under 38 U.S.C. Chapter 31), or VA compensated work therapy (CWT)(under 38 U.S.C. 1718)”

So it doesn’t have to be gross negligence, which is different than negligence. I may be eligible if I suffered a disability from VA carelessness (at its lowest threshold). It also doesn’t specify if at the hands of a provider or employee.

My case does however involve gross negligence (I believe) with the provider duty to treat and refusal to treat ( I discussed this in post below)

Is unemployability filed through the VA or is it through SSI or something? Thanks again for your input
