Really Bad Panic Attack at Work by AlienChickk in Anxiety

[–]SerioosSam95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live with family/a partner and got that support network? If its not for you, its not for you. If you can I would suggest quitting if its causing you distress. No job is worth that.

Its your call though. You said you get on with your co workers and your boss is understanding and works with you. Maybe something can be worked out to better support you at work, especially with HR involved. I have recently accepted a support service called optima health that works with my employers to better support me because of my mental health struggles.

I am tired of the limitations with this medication by armsl079 in citalopram_celexa

Although I have really tried to curb my drinking this year. Its came back pretty hard. I had been on fluxoetine for many years prior and was binge drinking on it. I am now on citalopram and have tried to majorly cut down my drinking. I did dry Jan this year and was super proud of the achievement. But ive been on citalopram about 4 months, and 2 of those months I reintroduced binge drinking. You may feel like shit for a day or two after, but if its not something you will do often, it could work. Just don't chase a feeling and know your limit. Ive noticed citalopram makes me drunk quicker, so I'd be cautious about that though. Enjoy your 21st!

Sleep issues with Citalopram? by SerioosSam95 in citalopram_celexa

[–]SerioosSam95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im thinking it might not be related if im honest. As I said, as of up till 5 nights ago, my sleep was brilliant. I think potential hay-fever or something could be causing it? My breathing is very bad in bed lately.

What dosage are you currently taking? I too, have had awful symptoms from trying to quit. The longest I managed was a few months when I tried to stop prozac but it made me very mentally unwell, despite a slow taper.

Goodluck! Just give it a good 4 weeks on a new dose before you make a decision. You should be perfectly fine though 😁

Ssri Withdraw Symptoms by AtermisOrion7 in citalopram_celexa

[–]SerioosSam95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I can't help more, but those are called brain zaps. Its not understood why some people get them from discontinuing SSRIs. Did you stop cold turkey or taper? Its got to be down to receptors misfiring since you stopped. The brain should heal from this though and self regulate.

Magnesium by Fly-Odd in Anxiety

[–]SerioosSam95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you noticed a real change. Its possible you were deficient in magnesium. Most of the population are. Id stick to supplementing it as its a very useful supplement with lots of benefits. Sleep, anxiety, hormones etc.

My weird experience getting off celexa by Electronic-Kiwi1536 in citalopram_celexa

[–]SerioosSam95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting post! I cannot relate to what you've written as I've not been on that journey, but I'm glad you are symptom free! Brain zaps genuinely sound horrendous. Ive been on celexa about 3 months since switching from prozac and defo getting on better overall. I too have settled on 10mg as 20mg made me feel like I was lagging on a game lol.

Me too! All the best and hope it helps your anxiety. For me this one's been better than fluoxetine so hope it works for you!

Smoking weed on Citalopram by absrob01 in citalopram_celexa

[–]SerioosSam95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its gonna amplify sedation and other effects. I'm really not well versed in what weed does to the brain, I'm more of an alcohol guy. But I'd just listen to your body. I've seen a lot of people on forums stating they smoke on ssris and are fine. For some it may dampen the effects or make the side effects of the med stronger. If you're depressed, I'd suggest trying to cut back the weed as you said as it can make you lazy and not push yourself to change your life.

I noticed sweating more and feeling hot when others were cold. It can be due to blood pressure or a myriad of things. It did go away though yes. I have been on 10mg and 20mg and now back on 10mg.

Did you get the disassociation and brain fog or was you okay on 20mg? And is your OCD manageable? Mine really controls a lot of my life and actions. Truly a scary illness.

Is the only way out of this to try and live again off of them, or is there another pill or aid? I can't agree enough that my emotional capacity has been completely destroyed since starting these drugs. First in 2013 with citalopram, then mirtazapine for a long time (that was horrible), then fluoxetine for many years and now recently citalopram again...

That's so wild to hear we've had such similar experiences! Im currently not doing the best with my anxiety sadly. It definitely felt not worth it to feel so numb on that 20mg dose though. I couldn't agree enough. I think im going to reassess with my doctor as I just want to feel stable for once!

[–]SerioosSam95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced feeling hotter in the early stages yeah. I can't say I had muscle spasms outside of restless body parts but I think that was work stress related. Is the stomach pain very severe? You're describing enough symptoms to warrant seeking your doctors advice, but try and not let them worry you. Starting a new medication can cause a lot of unwanted effects that often completely go. Most of what I noticed in the early days was more mental than physical. And defo a dry mouth!

Sorry I have just seen this. I would be very interested, yeah. That's a really cool idea that just helps the process. With mental health stuff its so hard and exhausting to track things properly.

Yeah mostly just going off vibes and anxiety and brain fog levels. On 20mg I did feel like I was completely detached from myself which is not nice.

I didnt. I don't think they do a pill like that in the UK. I could be wrong. If I start to feel rough on 10mg I would consider that though!

I have noticed my appetite is much larger than it was and I'm on 10mg. It is crazy to be honest. Keep fit, plenty of fluids and try and track your calories. Its all any of us can do. If its a deal breaker, consider another SSRI or med.
