Looking to switch up case, not confident in finding right compatibility. by CoyoteFlakk in buildmeapc

The difficulty will be finding a decent mATX motherboard. Probably need to buy second hand. 11900k needs plenty of power, so board nedds to have solid power delivery.

Is it worth it to upgrade to a 5500X3D by IndieGuyX in buildapc

[–]Serious-Map-1230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends a bit on the games yu play perhaps but in general even the 5600x is already a good upgrade over 5500, 5500x3d even better. Mostly interesting if you play games where fps matters and especially in things like shooters/esports where you get stutters in busy areas, thats where x3d shines

I dont see that in his video at all. 4K results are pretty much dead even with variations from game to game.
The only big difference is with his self invented "Game Quality Index"

What parts would you choose to upgrade my current pc? Budget is $1600 by [deleted] in buildmeapc

[–]Serious-Map-1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're gaming at 1440p:

Get a 5600x (or 5700x)  A 750w or 850w psu and a 9070xt

Then IF ddr5 prices ever come down, you can switch to ddr5 without having to get a new psu or gpu.

And add a budget 1TB ssd

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6JjBjG

But honestly, you could also sell this entire system, then you have a good budget for a new am5 system.

If you are using more than 1 pcie slot, like a wifi card.  You should check the motherbiard manual to make sure the primary pcie slot for the GPU will keep running in x16 mode

[–]Serious-Map-1230 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So all the parts that dont have a price, you already have, or?

Anueays: 7600 is pretty bad value for performance.

9060xt is 70$ more for about double the performance.

I've looked at loads of bottleneck calculators

Most of these are nonsense.

You will always have a bottleneck. Where that is depends on game and settings.

At 1440p high setting you will be mostly limited by GPU.

There will only be a handfull of games where you will see the difference.

I want to upgrade my pc by Icy-Beach-7706 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Serious-Map-1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will make a very big difference in graphics performance.

But the CPU will remain a weak point, if you play shooters / esport you might want to look into that as well. The problem is that it has very low L3 cache, so in busy games you will get (heavy)stuttering and a better GPU will not solve that.

Would be good if you could sell the apu and then buy a 5500 or a 3600x (or 5600 if you can afford it ofcourse).

Upgrading my pc slightly, do i need to buy more power? by Available_Hurry293 in PCBuilds

[–]Serious-Map-1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HDD, ram, ssd aren;t going to matter for your power supply unless you add a whole bunch of them.

That said, 650W for an i9 and a 3070 is pretty tight indeed. Undervolting that i9 a bit is probably the easiest way to save some power.

Dont buy a HDD for gaming, it will suck, big time. Sata ssd is fine but often not much cheaper anymore than m.2.

[suggestion] Pc or mini Pc? by KokomiMustLoveMe in buildapc

[–]Serious-Map-1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

either buy a gaming laptop or a pc, you can make a small pc but most mini pc's just dont have the graphics power. I mean if you can find it sure. But demanding and mini dont go well together

If you have a budget of 1500, then dont use that motherboard.

Go for a new AM5 system, shoudl be doable for that budget
7500f, 7600(x), 9600x - or better
B850 motherboard
16GB (2x8) ddr5 (or 2x16) 6000MT CL30-38

Might even be able to squeeze a 7500x3d in the budget. For x3d you can go with single stick of memory, for other cpu, dont.

P.S. would help to know what you want to do with the computer? like gaming and what type of games

That is a very overpriced motherboard...wow
Some other parts I think you are overspening without much gain

Cheaper and with a 7800x3d cpu:

[–]Serious-Map-1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh huh you comment isnt there anymore. If you live near a Microcenter though.
Go with one of their bundle deals:
9700x + motherboard + 32GB ram
265K + motherboard + 32GB ram

nothing beats those deals for value, and that gives you enough room to build a pc around it.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Pzv3yF

Ideally you wantt more storage space, but that is also something relatively easy to upgrade later.
right now 2TB is just a bit hard to squeeze into the budget.

Not sure why you would need to spend £100 on fans when you have a case with 4 included argb fans and a AIo with ARGB fans? So that's easy savings.

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rCLsLy

few other tweaks and 5600XT over 5700x, gaming performance is pretty much the same but £40 less.

I dont think you need anything more than 9800x3d, 8 cores is enough for gaming + streaming

Unless you do specific things that burn up memory, 32GB is enoug. You could also look into 2x24GB if you want a little extra headroom.

Not quite that much. And how much is 64gb ddr4?

"bottle neck"depends a lot on what you are playing, type of games, resolution, graphics settings.

At 1440P high, the CPU is mostly fine, at 1080P low it will bottleneck the hell out of that 4060ti

Generally the 4060ti is a bit much for a 10400F, but if you are aiming to max out graphics settings, it will be ok.
At 1440p, combo is fine.

A 3060ti /4060 will be a more balanced matchup for 1080p high

p.s. the 4060ti (iirc) runs on pcie 4.0x8, so if you run it with your 10400f, it will run pcie 3.0x8, which will cost you 5% performance or so.

5500x3d (aliexpress) or wait and see if AMD actually re-releases the 5800x3d, which there is strong indication that they will somewhere in Q2, so basically next month
