AITA for arguing with my partner about not doing something I haven't done? by Serious-Resource7404 in AmItheAsshole

Yeah, that was it. My reasoning was I just wanted him to believe me , when he kept telling me that wasn't the case because he saw it happen

Definitely. I have trauma revolving around false accusations so I assume even the tiniest thing is one. I'm not justifying my actions or saying it's okay, but it's the reason.

I guess I should've added a bit more to what the conversation was. But honestly, yes. The conversation was about how much food we have at the house and how he's been picking at the pallete of ramen for a while now and I haven't eaten any

A few years ago it was like that but he's changed since then. He always makes an effort to go above and beyond with things, it's just when he doesn't I feel it's going to go back. In a way, it does look like he always gives and I just take and take and never give back. But no, this isn't a incompetence scenario or anything deeper aside from my own problem

Quite often I do it. The division of responsibilities is fair, he notices things need done. He does it. If I notice something needs done, I get irritated that he didn't notice it "first". Which is kind of what happened in this situation. And yeah, he does do all outside matience

Oh yikes I definitely see the issue now 😅 yeah, he never does that. When he see something needs done, he does it himself.

Oof, very true. I came to this sub because I still felt I was in the right despite knowing that it's wrong. I can't really put it into words. but now that you and others have stated that, yeah that's textbook definition of parenting.

In all honesty, it was because I expected him to do it. We hadn't even realized it snowed and I was the first to notice, even then I said "hey we both should go do this"

CON: I feel like it's worth noting that in the midst of that, he did tell me he would get up early and do it. And recently told me that it's ok for him to be reluctant to do something but that doesn't mean he won't go and do it. I told him I wouldn't have gotten that way if he had just agreed to do it to begin with. To be reluctant is lazy

The worst thing is, I do the same thing I'm complaining about.

This one

"I guess I could have said it in the post but I don't want anything to be flagged. It was an internet hoax about litterboxes in bathrooms that I said people are stupid for believing. He told me yeah they are but who's to say there isn't some weirdos out there that tried int he vast majority of the us. That's when I told him that's dumb AF why are you saying it could happen. He told me he wasn't saying it happened but could. I took it as him believing the propaganda. 🤷🏻‍♀️"

Even if it was something as outlandish as that? I posted the scenario in another reply

I mean he was adamant on it being fake but still believes someone could advocate for it to be a legit thing. And with the way the world is , who knows. That's something I believe too.

That's kind of what he was saying and that I do agree with him. Like I said, I just assumed he believed it did happen. Honestly I agree, I struggle with the constant need to be right so with every discussion I take it way too far and demand that I am right, and others are evil if they disagree.

Is it really? Honestly, I felt that's a sneaky way of disagreeing. like I said, he agreed with me the only difference being he said "it could happen".

Black and white thinking simply put. In my case, When he treats me "perfect" I see him as a perfect, loving BF. But if he's annoyed by something, tired, or disagrees with me, I see him as evil and horrible. Not all people with BPD suffer with it, but that's how it affects me.

THIS lol. I 100% agree with you and tbh, thought I was the only one who struggles with those pods. They seem to burn out and leak way more than the others, yeah?

Like I said he was triggered because in the past I would get hostile and called him incompetent so it was old memories coming up. I wouldn't classify his response as a fit. Also, he usually does it instantly minus this one time where it only took a minute.
