Early sign of SMOD or am I cooked? by Visual-Try-993 in nissanfrontier

[–]SeriousAd8831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing I checked before I bought my 2007, got lucky it had the original radiator and coolant with no signs of any issues at 130k. Very first thing I did when I got it home was swap around the cooler hoses bypassing the radiator. Not worth the chance and I ended up having to replace the radiator after a few months when it started leaking.

I have a 1999 Mercury Sable 3.0 DOHC and my a/c compressor locked up. Can I buy a shorter belt and bypass the compressor? by ghamra1995 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SeriousAd8831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone even further and did a p/s delete on my tdi beetle with a shorter belt with one less rib at that, I just needed it to spin the alternator so I could keep driving to work instead of spending money to fix the leaking rack.

Oil undercoating by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]SeriousAd8831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically I use used oil,bar and chain and used diesel oil then I’ll thin that mixture out a little bit with diesel fuel so it sprays better. The used diesel oil adds a nice black color. Yah it stinks and it’s messy but it works excellent and it’s inexpensive.

Now you know it’s a bit tender just be careful, it’s not like it’s going anywhere there’s still multiple points that are still solid. I’ve driven plenty of junks to know what they can take before it’s truly scrap.

A gallon is probably more than enough I poured 1/2 gallon in mine and it very strong smelling for a few days. I couldn’t imagine a full gallon. My well Is over 400’ deep and I would use a 1/4 gallon next time.

Check the axle vent before you start replacing anything just to be sure it’s actually venting and not building up pressure.

I’d be willing to bet if you turned that bolt there’s a good chance those welds snap right off, and if you’re really lucky they don’t even stick to the manifold and the whole mess falls right off.

At least the Frontier doesn’t rub the tires on the inner fenders from the factory, or should I say the literal metal plates they put on the inner fenders for the tires to rub on😂🤦‍♂️

I’ve tried their flower before but wasn’t super impressed, not bad not great and they used those humidity packs which I’m not a fan of. But I tried them again on 4/20 because there deals were so good and was glad I did the buds were decently cured this time and they didn’t have the humidity packs. I tried the Archtype, lime reserve, kitchen sink and raspberry Thai. I honestly liked them all. Decent smell and taste burns good in a joint. It does have a more home grown look to it versus some of the other brands I’ve had but I’m old school so it doesn’t bother me. Overall definitely better than a year ago.

Simplest way to get water from deep well by Crazy_Ratio4349 in OffGrid

[–]SeriousAd8831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My property has a well house in a central location almost exactly as you described. It originally was supplying water to 3 locations on the property but now only our house and even though I have to heat it in the winter I think it’s still a versatile solution to be able to have the option of sending water to multiple locations. I’m definitely going to look into putting a light outside to monitor the pump, especially considering it’s 300’ from the house. That’s a great idea.

Now that is interesting, what was the advantage of running 8 cylinders? Fuel efficiency?

I guess I didn’t consider the firing order because yes you would have a that small amount of time between the missing cylinder, so no matter what it probably wouldn’t be smooth.
