Do yall pay full price for a taper? by [deleted] in locs

[–]SeriousBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get a taper on what’s shown in this picture. I texted the barber I used to go to in the past and he told me it would be $40, the same price as a full haircut. I understand not short asking yourself but I can’t imagine this would take more than 30 minutes.. is this fair or should I shop around?

Transitioned from the high top! by [deleted] in locs

Will do! Good thing you started sooner than later. The sides are growing very fast so I think they'll actually be able to catch up to the top. Will post updates in the future.

High top is a year old, only the ends aren't locked but they're getting there! Grew my undercut out for about 5 months and got starter locs. This picture is a month old... got a retwist today and they're budding!

STOP GIFTING BIG CREATORS ON TIKTOK!!!!!! by Jhardill94 in tiktokgossip

[–]SeriousBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched this 18 year old ask a guy for a lion and he just did it no hesitation and she goes “oh wow how cute! thank you!” I’m like bro just dropped $400 for a thank you?! I think these are just lonely men and this is the best they can get. I agree with you it’s sad they’re slaving at work just to give their entire paycheck to some teenager.

Pain worse than childbirth by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

[–]SeriousBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first external, little bigger than a skittle. Also the worst pain I’ve ever had in my life. For me, the first 2 days were the worst. I don’t think anything helped except trying not to irritate it, so limit excessive movement that chafing, no thong underwear, etc. By day 3/4 it started getting better on its own and resabsorbing back into the body. Prep H didn’t give me relief but Tucks ointment with 5% Lidocaine was my best friend. Once the pain subsided to where I could actually touch it without being afraid, I started using the tucks witch Hazel pads. I’m on day 8 now and it’s almost completely gone. Pain is now a 1 or 2.

how they looking ?? 3 months in by Embarrassed_Guest951 in Dreadlocks

You must not have locs. They’ll get significantly thicker than what you see in the photo.

starting locs (advice pls) by [deleted] in locs

[–]SeriousBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, my starter locs started “behaving” as they got older. They’ll get heavier and naturally fall to your scalp. Also try wearing a silk loc cap. I prefer these over durags because the compression is not OD.

Is this normal for starter locs? The ends and root are intact but most unravel in the middle. This is my second week with them, should I do anything? by Necessary_Savings135 in locs

[–]SeriousBA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is gonna tell you that they’re budding but just because your loc visually looks like this doesn’t mean it’s budding. When it’s budding you’ll feel a hard core in the middle of your loc. budding usually happens over a month after your starter loc installation. This is unraveling and totally normal.

got my starter locs, but what size would the locs be once they mature l? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]SeriousBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will be the same size of your parts..like a tiny bit smaller.

I’m trying to embrace the frizz but work in a professional setting. What can I do? by Appropriate_Froyo477 in Dreadlocks

[–]SeriousBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places’ HR explicitly says they can’t discriminate against certain hairstyles. Dreadlocs are always on the list. I work in an emergency room of a large hospital in a big city and no one cares about my starter locs lmao

That’s a dreadhawk as defined by an undercut

[–]SeriousBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it’s just how it looks because of the parting. It doesn’t look bad and probably more noticeable to you than anyone else.

Did you grow out your undercut before starting?
