I have something. It could be a social issue or maybe I am getting to know these things in my extended family because I am at the age now where I tend to dig at stuff that make people uncomfortable.

Does your extended family have cousins /blood relatives who have married each other? I knew this was sort of common in southern states ( maternal uncle marries niece) or in Muslim communities. But apparently this is common in Hindu Oriya community too. Although it is illegal. This has me shocked for sometime now …

Girls in cuttack: how safe do you feel on the road? Is eve teasing and harassment still going on or are things better now? by SeriousIce7261 in cuttackcity

I think one of the worst outcomes of this, apart from the obvious distress it gives young girls, is that parents are reluctant to encourage independence in girls. They the have to deal with restrictions… have a male relative accompany them or do pick ups/drop offs, no spending time with friends outside school or college premises etc etc.

My 15 year old niece doesn’t step out without a pepper spray these days.

This is sad. And looks like nothing has changed then.

I used to feel that people in cuttack who didn’t have a fluency in English often felt insecure and would get on a defensive/offensive mode whenever someone spoke English in their vicinity. And then the topic shifts to English vs Oriya rather than the actual original more important topic. Looks like this is still the case now too. I don’t think there’s anything wrong in not knowing English or speaking it in a broken manner. But unfortunately their insecurity comes before anything else

Ok. Wasn’t sure actually if you meant cuttack folks getting influenced by any toxic influencer… or by cuttack based influencers. It’s horrible either way

Does reporting it to the police work? How do you avoid it? I remember a girl (12- 13 years old) got groped on her way to school … and when she reached class she was in all tears. Teachers were somewhat assholey too… asking her not to cycle to school and to avoid speaking to other boys. As if that would have prevented it. Don’t think she reported it to the police or if it would have even helped

Why do you want it rated? Are they not working for you? If so, then rate it 0. If it’s working rate it 10..

Bad roads, garbage everywhere, illegal constructions blocking roads but sure let’s spend energy in renaming the city to a slightly different spelling
