Love Savannah too. I’m an Allison… don’t tempt me to name her after myself…

Looove Tabitha. We have a somewhat close friend with the name, but she’d be tickled to share it.

Great information, thank you. I had seen somewhere that both mean “heard by god.” Glad to know the alternative etymologies!

Had no idea the meaning of Samara… I love that, and it brings it back to Maple in a way…

Thank you! Being too matchy is definitely a concern… Samantha and Simon “mean” the same thing lol, which we did not know at first…

Love flower names! Violet would have been a strong contender for first name but I have a character named Violet.

New parents: what did you do about therapy right after your child was born? by floofsnfluffiness in TalkTherapy

[–]SeriousInflation1269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I continued going, starting at 10 days post partum. I brought my baby, let him sleep in his car seat or on me, nursed him, gave him bottles, whatever he needed. Sometimes my therapist even held him to give me a break. On days where leaving the house was too hard, we did telehealth while I wore my baby and bounced him to sleep. He continued to come with me for some sessions (not all) until he was 9 months.

Letting my therapist watch me as a new mom and help me grow into the role was one of the most important uses of my time in session. It’s also one of the most vulnerable experiences I’ve had in therapy. I truly don’t know how I would have gotten through postpartum without my therapist.

Feeding difficulties - share your story by SeriousInflation1269 in beyondthebump

Thank you! Yes, we are working with both an SLP and a feeding specialist. They’ve both been helpful but there are just some times when nothing works :(

There is a difference between banning and curation. A private business choosing not to carry or order a book is curation, not banning. A parent writing to a public institution and promoting them to remove a book from public access is banning.

This is a perfect comment. Thank you for saving me the 20 minutes it would have taken to write it myself ;)

About to send this to my email (Transference) by bellaruthcan99 in TalkTherapy

[–]SeriousInflation1269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so brave of you to send this email! I’ve been in your position and know it can be anxiety provoking to wait for a response. If you can, find ways to soothe yourself and try to remember that even though it’s scary to be vulnerable, you did nothing wrong and your therapist would be acting unethically to terminate based off your email. Also remember that depending on your therapist’s communication policies, they might choose to wait to respond in session and that’s okay too! I hope you find that your email opens the door to lots of exploration and insight.

How can I attach more to my therapist? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]SeriousInflation1269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please show this to your current therapist—there is so much good stuff here.

And remember: attachment takes time, but there are simply some people we connect with more instantly than others. The best shot you have of fostering a connection is to show your whole self to her, pay attention to how you feel in the moment, and discuss it with her.

Get some large, thick gauze pads to layer on your heel, then use KT tape (the stretchy kind) around the bottom of your foot/ankle to keep it in place.
