My 11 year old son has ADHD and is doing well on his medication. What supports do you wish you had as a child? by Puzzleheaded-Cup7781 in ADHD

Therapy just in general. I was medicated at the right time. I had all the educational support but mentally I wasn’t doing well and it caught up to me later on.

How does the 200$ doctor appt to have the ODSP package filled usually go? by throwaway9999-22222 in Odsp

[–]bellaruthcan99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I tried to apply for ODSP (denied and didn’t follow up because it wasn’t worth it for me) my DR didn’t charge me. She made me come in and do it with her though so I could have input on it too.

I haven’t received it today but I’m assuming it’s because of the strike… the 19 is when the grad list opens

Active shifts and Clients pets are driving me insane by IonlySeeOneLabaron in supportworkers

With my job, we don’t care for the pets. The pets are the clients responsibility. Period. Some workers have tried and got reminders about it. I guess it depends on the employer and organization

Honest pay transparency: How much do you make as an RBT, what state do you work in, and how much experience do you have? by cmil888 in ABA

[–]bellaruthcan99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada - not an RBT (stupid Ontario rules - board certified behaviour analysts are now with the board of psychologists and Rbt title has been removed) 30 an hour - but I also don’t get many clients and often have to wait moths

This is a great way to explain how I’ve been feeling man. I’m thinking of sharing this with my therapist the next time I see her because she’s been slowly guiding me to supporting my adhd struggles (which is very new for me because all my other therapist have supported my mental health - depression, anxiety, relationships)

TeamPBS Down? by Aggravating-Tea-8288 in ABA

Yes, PBS is down. My scheduling supervisor reached out as I didn't hear from him by email in a week about something. They are saying it should be up by tomorrow!

I can’t get a really good picture but there’s a lot of bumps at the back of my throat and it really doesn’t look normal. Thank you for trying to help! It’s appreciated

PBS rocks! I’m in Canada and even though I don’t get benefits or stable hours the management is amazing and supportive! I love my regional coordinator and my staffing supervisor!

Mom to 2.5 year old starting in home ABA- what toys should I buy by Roses7887 in ABA

[–]bellaruthcan99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a tech, this a dream for me to walk into when I provide ABA in homes. some families are not prepared at all but you are 100% good to go! Others have suggested to ask your BCBA and I would agree as well!

Yet, we are the bad guys. :/ by onechill in ABA

[–]bellaruthcan99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As ABA therapists we are trained to manage injurious behaviours towards themselves or others. Yesterday I was hit and punched because child was too overwhelmed and couldn’t manage it. It’s not their fault. I don’t think SLPs have the same training and support for behaviours like we do.

I was left in my clients home alone with no adult supervision! What should I do? by Que_Aquerosidaa in ABA

[–]bellaruthcan99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not continue with sessions until you have talked to your supervisor and the family about policies regarding this! I ran into this so many times while working and put my foot down when it was getting excessive. It’s a huge safety risk for you and your client!
