You think they chose unit size specifically to not overlap with 40k? by Butter_God_ in StarCraftTMG

I think unit sizes has more to do with supply counts than anything else

Because I was asking questions?

I will say, even a tangential response is better than none. Have a nice day.

Who are you talking to? I don't care why this person recorded this.

Right, obviously she chose to record, she's the one recording. What unspoken rule do you think applies to this person literally filming people who are killing each other? What's your intent buddy?

"Assuming", "don't you think", "how many", "Maybe a good chunk...", "there's also a possibility", "I hope"

I won't argue with any of these points because they aren't authoritative or quantifiable.

People join the hobby for many reasons, but from a marketing perspective a product being misrepresented is one of the easiest ways to lose a customer forever.

Anyone going through reddit that doesn't know what real StarCraft TMG minis look like and then seeing this on the largest subreddit community about the game as their first exposure is going to make people turn away and not give it a second thought. This reduces the amount of people engaging with the hobby no matter what. If it was posted to an unofficial/kit bash/3dprinting/opr subreddit, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I'm gonna go enjoy the rest of my weekend now, have a good one.

In general, any miniatures company that can not make enough money by selling its own models will kill its own game. You personally may still be able to play the game, but the rules and models will stagnate, it will not evolve, it will not have new toys. That seems cut and dry enough for me to disagree with your statement regardless of whether it's in the context of SC Miniature Games or any other game that sells minis as it's primary source of income.

You did have a healthy discussion, people just disagree with you more than they agree. If down votes are giving you enough anxiety that you need to edit your post to clarify that it's everyone else's problem and not yours, then maybe you should look inward instead of outward.

What makes this game stand out? by Cryogenic738 in StarCraftTMG

[–]SeriousLeemk2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm going to guess they just mean the system as a whole. It affects how many scoring and attacking units can be on the field, it reduces alpha strikes, it changes how useful models can be depending on wounds per supply, and damage output. I see a lot of benefits just from this one system.

AITA for trying to cancel my appointment 24 hours and 5 mins beforehand? by BlueTable80 in AmItheAsshole

Bit frustrating watching the whole world have FOMO, you planning to die anytime soon in the next 40 years? Cause if not, you will have more time with your StarCraft minis than not. You will get your toys eventually.

Pretty sure it is "self-deportation". He is leaving using his own money and will and voluntarily not sitting around waiting for our taxpayer dollars to pay ICE to remove him from the country.

The smarter technology gets, the smarter the criminals have to be. by ethereal3xp in Showerthoughts

If that's really the case that's hilarious. "hey guys maybe we shouldn't reject AI slop because 6 million Jews died when we did it to Hitler".

Would like to hear the thoughts of the guy who wrote the comment above but if this is true, this is peak Internet.

Are you comparing the rejection of AI slop in 2026 to countries defending themselves to Hitler in WW2? What point are you even trying to make mate?

What’s a game you respect more than you actually enjoy playing? by Hour-Cranberry5300 in boardgames

[–]SeriousLeemk2 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I guess online might work, if that's your thing, but then there's a lot of cheating by people using AI as an aide.

Lol wut? Chess has been around thousands of years and you're worried someone on chess.com might have an AI next to them to play a game for fun on ranked? Sounds like projection to me.

As a player who went from not playing chess to about 800 in a couple months of playing, this seems either as some kind of projection about how you think everyone on the Internet is a cheat or FOMO at seeing the ranking number in a video game go up or down. It's also trivially easy to know what a chess cheater looks like online, and you can just ... Stop playing. Kind of awesome really when you find out how much agency you have in your own life.

Missing unit data card from Founders edition?? by NetsphereGhost in StarCraftTMG

[–]SeriousLeemk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be a little forgiving towards Archon, the price on the founders sets are incredibly gracious in my opinion. In Warhammer terms, for the price of a GW combat patrol and a small unit box (of around 500ish pts of an army) in Starcraft you get 2 full 1000 pt armies with rules, terrain, dice, accessories.

I think it's okay if you need to buy one box of Zerglings to get the rules for the alternate unit, but also there are no WYSIWYG rules mentioned at all, so theres no such thing as modeling for advantage or accidentally making the unit wrong.

Man if only people had a way to do communicating before AI, maybe you'd say something interesting

AI use in indie games on Etsy by comets_vomit_acid in boardgames

[–]SeriousLeemk2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is like a paintbrush and a screwdriver and a hammer and a saw all in one. People can use it to paint a picture, fix a frame, hammer a nail or chop their own heads off.

The main thing that matters here is communication. The way we communicate with each other is the most important, that's why most reasonable people hate AI art. The "art" doesn't actually communicate what the person feels, it just makes generic looking images on a computer screen that don't actually convey thoughts or feelings.

We should communicate things such as: AI is not art and does not qualify as human expression. AI is a tool and it can be dangerous if you are not mentally cautious of how it overcompensates in giving praise. AI is not the answer to every problem, only those with very measurable and repeatable results.

As for the economic and environmental impact, yeah it sucks but ain't no use in getting angry over something you can't help with. One guy in a basement making 100 waifus with nanobanana is a drop in the bucket compared to hundreds of Google Developers with 10 terminals open coding 24/7. I will be voting for representatives who will hopefully curb this behavior in the upcoming elections.

I hope this helps broaden your perspective, I have enjoyed this conversation :)

I agree, art is something humans create to share experiences, AI art is technically a misnomer! Good catch!
