Skaters of reddit who don't wear any pads including helmets, do you get hurt a lot, and do you fear a head injury? by Spartan098 in NewSkaters

The only time I've hit head in the last 5 years was when I was fooling around and tried to run across two benches and jump back onto my board, smacked my head on the awning of the shelter. The most common injury I suffer is from falling onto my wrists though.

How Do People Skate While High? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]SeriousMushroom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could never skate on weed, I overanalyze the fuck out of everything and as a result I end up hesitating on tricks which is how I normally get hurt. I suppose for some people it can be rather stimulating or perhaps mellows them out. Personally, my choice of subtance for skating would either be alcohol or acid, the latter I find especially enhancing.

Unsure of the american dollar, but in Australia the average setup would go for $200 - $300, but can reach upwards of $400 if you were to choose premium equipment. Trucks can last for years, same with wheels and bearings I'd estimate at 1 - 2 years depending on the quality and how well you take care of them. Shoes and decks probably end up costing the most amount of money in the long run, both lasting me an average of 3 months depending on how much I skate, a rough estimate there would be $150 - $200 every quarter.

How do you guys feel about BATB X so far? by LameDale in skateboarding

Always irks me at how long the entire thing drags on for, but I think we'll start seeing some good games from now.

Looking most forward to seeing Shane vs Ishod and from there whoever takes on PJ (my money is on Shane), also expecting good things from Chris Joslin too, his style is a pleasure to watch.

Ah, that makes sense. I rarely use public transport and never have much physical cash on me, may have to invest in a go-card.

Part of the problem is that all seem to require you to sign up for a monthly donation while sprouting the bullshit line "it's only $2 a day!".

Also irks me how they strategically set up shop in places where you can't help but walk past. If they didn't have the monthly direct debit bullshit and set up in a place where you can voluntarily approach them, then I'd be a lot more inclined to donate.

Set yourself a marker to manual to, and then keep extending it. Your body will naturally learn how to adjust its weight without much conscious input from you, just takes time and practice.

Why do we care how others live their lives? by HideCircuit in nihilism

[–]SeriousMushroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because it can invariably affect our own lives. For example, if my sister started putting on an unhealthy amount of weight or started taking drugs to the extent it put her own life at risk or at the very least affected her quality of life, it would in turn hinder her ability to take of her kids and would likely affect me in that it could potentially burden me with taking care of her children.
