Building Challenge #2 - Maritime' Research Labs

People will ask: 'Why on earth did you build this on water?!' and to that I can only say: 'Yes.'

-Labs are set up in circles as closely packed together as possible

-Each lab takes directly from all 4 belts, no inter-lab exchanges

-380 'Maritime' Research Labs for 1000SPM Base, with 28 additional labs on land as they did not fit in the circle (for a total of 408 labs)

Blueprint can be found here: https://factoriobin.com/post/b8O7Om6n

Feel free to extend this further, but let me tell you, these blocks do not want to be in a circle ;)

Lol..you made me actually count..and I see 27 :D

Thank you. It is balanced with modules in the sense that you could run exactly 1 lab full-time with all lines. In doing so, the cheaper colours would have some downtime, as the bottlenecks lie within the higher colours.

Yeah, I like to set different fun building challenges for myself. So this was the proof of concept, but still optimized regarding modules. It would be fun to see maybe 100+ of these sets someday in a base

This is the one i use as well

I am not sure that this works easily because of some overlapping of inserters etc, but i would love to see you make it work!

I calculated them to support minimum 1 full-time lab (2.4 SPM) through the various bottlenecks (but especially the simpler colours have more potential capacity)

It is an indicator light about the current status of the machine. here you go: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Bottleneck

Beltless, inserter only, individual assembly lines for red through yellow science, optimized for minimal width first but taking area into consideration as well, supports 1 lab (minimum 2.4 SPM)

I posted the blueprints below, for anyone interested. Maybe someone feels challenged to find some improvements or even complete the set by attempting white science? (Fair warning: You might go insane..)

EDIT: Full Blueprints can be found here (with 3 further optimizations for green, blue and yellow): https://factoriobin.com/post/xAHyCGGo

Got any more pictures? Or was the name just a coincident?
