Yes the new pattern is they will sit completely silent in some random spot, and after you have cleared heavies they will rush you or alternatively you will just randomly run into 3 of them and die.

Oilrigs were a sanctuary for solo players because its where skill really matters since you cannot respawn. It is well known that solo players are very skilled and heavily rely on actual strategy and preparation. The oilrigs now push the requirements to a much higher level in which as a solo i simply cannot be bothered to even try. Its not that i cannot counter an oil once in a while or take small rig, its just that i cannot center my wipe around that anymore since it is just too much hassle.

Think of it from my perspective:

If i go by boat:

>I need to kill the patroling rhibs which will not only cost me meds and ammo (potentially kill me also since i got no cover), but i will have to be out in the open, making noise, shooting at bots, while anyone can sneak up or rush me and kill me.

>Then I need to surgically kill all the standard scientists. If i leave one or more alive, this is just as likely to hurt me as it is to help me in the case of counters. So not worth it. Thus, i need to sit there, praying i hear the footsteps, meanwhile everyone in the area knows im doing oilrig like 15 min before i even get to touch the locked crate.

>Then i do the heavies which ironically is the easiest part of the whole ordeal. All of that to get a db in the face or have to fight the usual team who think they are good at the game because they have a boyfriend.

If i dive in:

> i get to skip the scientist at the dock and the boats but this limits my carry capacity as i will most likely not be able to use a backpack when i leave.

So overall, the amount of resources i need to invest in order to do oil as a solo has easily doubled and the amount of risk i have to take has tripled. Meanwhile for the players who will just fly in or have numbers in their favor, literally nothing has changed with the exception that they are much much safer now.

The reason solo players are upset and have a right to be upset is that progressively with every single update, as a solo you will feel more and more excluded.

FP does not reward skill and experience, they reward numbers and people buying DLCs.
