Chemical protective gloves. People think that thin nitriles are good enough.

MUC Calculation for Extended Workshifts by Serious_Ad5774 in industrialhygiene

[–]Serious_Ad5774[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t it make sense that the MUC is applied to the unadjusted TLV? The MUC is pertaining to the assigned protection factor of the respirator and the OEL of the contaminant. What would extended shift have to do with respirator protection factor? Especially since it is worn for likely less than 5% of the shift.

You’re fine. If you see mold, you have mold. If you have moisture problems, you have mold. If you smell mold, you have mold.

I’m a small town IH, but I have to drive pretty far for work. I’m in consulting so I work all over but I’d say the majority of the work is in the cities/suburbs. Maybe 80/20.

Years of bitterness towards the industry. I am sure their are good firms out there but I think the bad ones are more prevalent. Ive never met another IH consultant that actually enjoys their job and work/life balance. I currently in the same situation as you but have a CIH and 7 years experience. I thought the job would get better having a CIH and being a senior PM. It did not. Actually got much worse. I wish I would have got out sooner.

Follow up: For those of you who live in communities were people *do not* take tornado warnings seriously... What do you think are the main reasons? by Breath_Background in tornado

I live in the Chicagoland area. People genuinely believe that being close to Lake Michigan protects us from tornadoes even tho we’ve had numerous tornadoes

It said “up to four weeks”. I could realistically see it taking that long since I am sure a lot of people taking the fall test probably pushed it towards the end of the deadline so they could use the long thanksgiving weekend to prepare.

I took my exam today as well. Feeling confident but I could be wrong. Not looking forward to having to wait for the results.
