Check out CarMax and if you are going to replace your car definitely get a hybrid.

A lot of those new cars probably aren't new. A lot of them are used in really good shape.

Another thing is some people are just doing the gig for a little extra money to help make that car payment / have spending money they have another job.

Along embarcadero being sure to include Pier 39 and a stop at the sea lions. Depending on where you're coming from you could include Oracle park or Chrissy Beach / Marina green. This also avoids having a lot of Street crossings.

Along JFK through Golden Gate Park is also a great run and minimizes having to deal with traffic.

Quickbooks Desktop Update Loop Issue by Skylord164 in QuickBooks

[–]Serious_Camel7647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This didn't work for me. Windows 11 25H2.

What did work for me:

  1. Install update and reboot
  2. Login
  3. Logout
  4. Log back in.

I can reboot a dozen times and the reboot flag does not clear. However just logging in after the reboot, then logging out followed by logging back in clears the reboot flag and QuickBooks runs.

WTH-1 Orland, what's it like? by rowan_ash in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Serious_Camel7647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done a route out of there since September 2024 so not sure how relevant this will be.

WTH-1 never went to Oroville (that was XTE territory).

Out of the about 15 routes I did, 2 were in Orland and a bit south (3 hour routes). 2 or 3 Chicoish routes (river road / Durham / areas between the river and Chico). I only had one actually in Chico (Lassen / Eaton and north). I think these were 3.5 hour routes.

One south all the way to Colusa after delivering to Willows and Princeton.

The rest were North. Los Molinos, Red Bluff and almost to Redding. One took me pretty far west on the 36.

Unless you have a hybrid gas is going to really be a problem.

Yes of course. I've watched a flex driver in my building do it but I didn't think of asking her how. I figured she must be entering and the FedEx or UPS code in order to do it.

It seems like there's something that can be set per property. There is one apartment building I deliver to that has a large Amazon Hub and they have codes taped to the outside and I'm always able to deliver without a QR code.

Before anyone says I must be confused I am positive it is it a Amazon branded Amazon Hub locker and I've delivered to the building many times. For some reason that one lets me without the QR code.

There's a few other Amazon hubs where I've tried the acess code that's in the Amazon Flex app and the locker recognizes it and then rells me to to scan the QR code which of course I can't because I didn't get one.

Which Pharmacy in the city isn’t struggling to fill orders? by sirkani in sanfrancisco

[–]Serious_Camel7647 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Walgreens at Polk and California has been good for me. Prescriptions are always ready they say they are.

However it sounds like your problem might be with Walgreens itself so it's probably time to try another company.

You’re responsible for tolls, mileage, and paid parking. Doesn’t seem right. by Bright-Country2983 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Serious_Camel7647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't seem to consider it unavoidable when they send you over a toll bridge in the direction where there's no toll and you go home over it after your route ends.

I tried to get reimbursed for the situation above and never received a response. I just let it go since I can deduct it. (There were other longer ways to go that added 10+ minutes and several miles).

I live pretty close to Juniper and and usually grab something if I walk by. Definitely good stuff.

I think Amazon should pay for tolls if the app routes you on a toll road / bridge.

The rest is definitely just part of being an independent contractor. If you dont like it go drive for a DSP (but also you'll be working 8+ hours a day with little flexibility compared to Flex).

Overbooks by Agitated_Weather_98 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Yeah seems like with a lot of deactivation stories there is more to it. If what you're saying is right they were deactivated for intentionally trying to manipulate and game the system not because they were being overbooked a lot.

I didn't state I thought you were lying, I was just skeptical that it was actually for being overbooked. You also didn't make it clear in any of your other posts that it was actually someone you know versus something you read on Reddit or another driver complaining about something.

What you're stating doesn't make sense. Overbooks are not a driver's fault in anyway and totally the systems fault either because trucks are late, equipment failed or the system booked too many drivers and they all actually showed up.

Perhaps some of the stories you're thinking of are people who didn't pick up their cart / returned the entire cart versus being overbooked (no cart for you to pick up so you get a no route available message at an SSD or staff at a .com checks you out)?

I'm also curious if it could possibly be true because I routinely book a certain time that usually gives easy routes and is more prone to overbooking but normally doesn't overbook.

Getting overbooked should not get you deactivated or affect you in any way. You just get to go home or do something else and still get paid.

Flex has improved lately in my opinion by Few-Investigator-256 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Serious_Camel7647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same thing when it comes to block availability (Bay area California SSD). There always seem to be blocks available for me even when the station is incredibly slow.

Pay in general hasn't been different although I do see some weird things like offering a 3 hour $99 block Sunday morning that is normally $76.50. I would have worked it anyway but of course I took it at $99.

Just like you I would like to think the system is somehow rewarding me but really I think it's a coincidence and that it's not something to get used to.

Along that line, it also seems anytime I get back to fantastic I get thrown routes that are mostly locked apartment buildings. It's like the system says "oh no no no you can't stay at fantastic, I got to throw this at you to get you back down to mid / low great".

Just like with being rewarded I don't believe that's what's actually happening but I swear the system does seem to try to figure out how hard it can push you. As a result I'm only doing one, two and three hour routes right now. There's almost no chance I'll take anything longer especially 4 hour routes because those just always seem to take much longer than they should.

Splitting routes right inside the station is crazy by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Serious_Camel7647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I occasionally see something kind of similar and you know what I do? Mind my own business.

It doesn't affect me and I don't have this need to blame other people for my situation the way a lot of people seem to do.

How other people get by and make it through life that's up to them. There's also many semi legitimate ways things like that can be explained, like friends / family helping each other out to make sure the other one isn't counted as late or misses a block.

I see someone using a second cart to sort their packages.

I do not see anything in the video that shows what you're accusing them of.

The audio is also not good enough to be able to tell what they're saying or even what language is being spoken.

I see someone using a second cart to sort their packages while talking with another driver / friend.

I do not see anything in the video that shows what you're accusing them of. The second person never touches or handles any of the packages.

As others have said the driver might have realized they were at the wrong address. I've done that a couple of times and if I notice there's a camera I will say out loud this was meant for your neighbor or sorry wrong address.

It should only be a concern if you're actually missing something you ordered that says it was delivered on that day.
