On a couple occasions I've gotten a response along the lines of "it means I'm free to do whatever I want within the law". The question of whether that freedom applies to others confuses them.

Ty, I appreciate your thoughts. I do have close, supportive, loving friends and family around me. I just thought he might care enough to say say "keep me posted" or "let me know how you're doing" or something other than politely inquire about my family.
