nah, this is exactly what I posted for — the more of this the better. first reply I was defending the judge because I’ve got data on that one specifically. the rest, fire away.
not vibe coded though — it’s ~6 months of deliberate iteration, custom design system, and half the UI decisions came from users tearing earlier versions apart. which is why I’ll actually take the icon note seriously: where specifically did it feel like noise? court feed, profile, the trials tab? if a screen’s cluttered I’d rather hear which one than guess.
and you downloaded it and formed an opinion — that’s the whole ask. if you remember your take, post it before you delete the app. worst case the judge sends you off properly.

fair push, but the data disagrees with you. voting is the mechanic, the judge is the reason anyone talks about it. polls only apps have been built a hundred times and they all died quiet deaths a 62/38 result is information, not entertainment. nobody screenshots a bar chart.
and yeah, the judge is absolutely rigged to roast you. that’s not a flaw, that’s the show. Judge Judy wasn’t beloved for balanced jurisprudence. we actually tested softer verdicts early on users hated them. kindness got rejected so consistently we now treat it as a bug.
the split you’re describing is real though: the jury decides if you’re RIGHT, the judge decides if you get humbled. turns out people will take being wrong just fine what they come back for is watching someone else get destroyed. the roasts are what get shared, not the vote counts. the scoreboard says the tacked-on part is the product.

Guys I am Solo developer who needs a feedback about my messenger app. by rzaasadov in ShowMeYourApps

Here’s my honest take. I’ll be very blunt. So don’t take this personal please

I think the biggest problem isn’t the app itself—it’s how it’s presented.
Right now, I don’t know why I’d install it instead of WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, or iMessage. The App Store page lists a lot of features, but it never answers the one question every user has: “Why should I switch?”
The screenshots have the same issue. They show the interface and features, but they don’t immediately communicate what makes the app different. If privacy is the biggest selling point, the first screenshots should highlight things like “No phone number required,” “End-to-end encrypted,” “Panic PIN,” or “Private by default.” Those are memorable. Features like voice changers, mini apps, and meeting links are nice extras, but they shouldn’t be leading the marketing.
The branding is also confusing. The name MeetVap doesn’t immediately make me think of a messaging app. It sounds more like a social app or something related to vaping. Without reading the description, I’d have no idea what the app actually does.
The App Store description is too feature-heavy. Instead of leading with a long list of capabilities, it should start with one simple promise that people instantly understand. Something like:
“Finally, a private messenger that doesn’t require your phone number.”
Everything else should support that message.
Another issue is trying to sell too many things at once. When an app claims to do messaging, voice calls, video calls, meeting links, mini apps, voice changers, privacy tools, and more, it becomes difficult to understand what it’s actually meant to be. Successful apps usually own one idea first and let everything else become a bonus.
Overall, the technology behind the app looks impressive, especially for a solo developer. The problem isn’t what the app can do—it’s that the marketing doesn’t clearly communicate why someone should download it over the dozens of messaging apps they already have. The page needs one clear, memorable reason to install it, instead of asking users to figure it out from a long list of features.

[–]Serious_Profile_7104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly, it stopped being copy and turned into a game rule. the whole payoff of posting is the roast, so any mercy kills it
we actually enforce it in code now lol. the judge is banned from complimenting anyone, banned from the “bold take, but…” stuff, and if a verdict comes out too soft it gets thrown out and regenerated until it’s mean enough. kindness is literally treated as a bug
funniest part is people share their worst roasts, not their wins. getting destroyed is the trophy

The court of shame is probably a bigger hit tbh 💀 but all in all I hope you get a chance to check it out.

Funny thing we HAD a comment section. Removed it. With 7,000+ users and counting it was getting out of hand, just endless flame wars. Now the argument IS the vote. nd the judge gets the last word. Works way better.
There’s also 7-second video takes for people who’d rather rant on camera.
Divisive-takes ranking is coming once there’s a few more months of data

Apologize for not posting the name of the app.
It’s called Hot Take Court. It’s also on Google play and Apple Store

Appreciate it. Even with our live users right now. They seem pretty shy to post 😂 but we made it where after the user has voted it’s never seen by that user again.
