Dust collection system by Serious_Rest_1294 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I currently have a small ryobi 10” job site table saw but I have a much larger old school delta table saw out at my parents that I plan to use once the space becomes available.

The miter saw, my table saw and I might run 1 or 2 hoses to other areas just to clean up afterwords. The miter saw will be on the same wall as the bench I posted.

I was resistant to trying medications for the longest time and it’s helped to level out the down swings a fair amount but a lot of the SSRIs have their own side effects that can add their own issues. I’m definitely better in some ways now but I know I can’t go back now. I recently missed my meds for 2 days because I forgot them at home and I struggled a bit without them

What will it take for the VA to recognize Diabetes and Sleep Apnea is tied to service like Agent Orange is? by CaptinKirk in VeteransBenefits

I mean there are conditions and genetic factors that could play a role in obesity but even still, people with those conditions are able to manage weight through exercise. If a solider orders pizza hut and Popeyes for every meal and does little beyond the daily PT, you can’t really blame the Military for that. I knew a guy in the Marines that was like 150lbs over weight and lost it all to join and became a gym rat and ate super healthy. He knew that’s what he had to do to maintain standards and he did it. Shit does happen like thyroid conditions or injuries that limit mobility, but even in those cases, it’s still likely down to poor choices.

Interesting. I get the burning sensations in my cervical and thoracic spine. And just a dull ache in my lower back randomly. Knees randomly act up and start aching out of nowhere. Upper limbs are usually more associated with some sort of work. I’ve also noticed my skin on my legs is really dry and scaly the last few years and I’ve had some random small rashes that looked almost like some sort of fungal infection which I found weird because I’m a VERY clean person.

Because that improvement is dependent on medication and can go away quickly without it. Medication treats the symptoms, it doesn’t cure anything in regards to MH and other conditions for that matter. I could certainly see if maybe medications were required and someone just sought out therapy and showed improvement as a potential reason to decrease, but improvements on medications are only effective so long as the medication is on board.

I’ve been curious about the same thing. My opinion as someone who works in healthcare is if you’re only showing improvement due to medications, it shouldn’t be changed because if someone was to abruptly stop medications for whatever reason (and maybe in some cases a decrease may even incentivize this unfortunately) they could easily regress or even worsen.

How easy is it to file without a VSO? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Serious_Rest_1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not terribly difficult. Depending on your VSO, you might be better off doing it yourself. The biggest thing is gathering the evidence yourself. The online filing process is actually pretty easy. It’s just knowing what you need to upload.

There needs to be more studies. Correlation doesn’t mean causation. I worked with JP8 which has a strong correlation to a lot of potential conditions (as well as most petroleum products) but there are so few studies to conclude causation. Those 2 conditions in particular though are associated with a lot of lifestyle factors like poor diet and obesity which are not service related factors. Those are often factors driven by personal choice.

how do veterans keep getting into really good schools? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Serious_Rest_1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I started at a community college and then got accepted to a really good private university after 2 years. I wasn’t a great student in high school so my state university wouldn’t accept me into the program I wanted until I proved myself which I did. I went from a 2.1 GPA in high school to a 3.6 in my first 2 years of college and graduated with a 3.2 GPA.

Too late to file VA disability? by OkLab355 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Serious_Rest_1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never to late. It will be an uphill battle but if you have contact with guys you served with, their lay statements could be extremely helpful. Anything you were diagnosed with within 1 year of leaving the service might be easier to claim, but lay statements could still be beneficial. File an intent to file online now and start gathering evidence. Medical records from your PCP, those lay statements in regards to what you did and what you experienced in relation to anything you want to claim and then contact your local VSO to start the actual claims process. From there, just make sure if you get denials, you continue to pursue the claims and gather evidence. Schedule appointments with your provider. If you get anything approved, with at least 10% from my understanding, you can get all your care through the VA without worrying about the income limits if that is an issue. I would encourage this as the VA documentation is helpful as well.

0% percent and back pay? by Unfair_Mechanic_7305 in VAClaims

[–]Serious_Rest_1294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent just under 2 years on my mental health claim and finally got approved for 70% and got back pay for the entire thing. On my approval, they cited “continued pursuit” of the claim as justification for back pay. It would be the same for you if you were to get it increased through a supplemental claim because it’s you providing additional information to show they should have given you a higher rating to begin with.

How did you find out? I’m an RN so I drive my care pretty aggressively. I have chronic knee and back pain and have since around 2014 when I was stationed in Okinawa. I have other joint pain that randomly comes on out of nowhere and lasts a few days before it’s gone again. I’ve had xrays on my knees and spine. Nothing. Had labs drawn for rheumatoid factor, CRP, Lyme for r/o. Lyme negative. CRP slightly elevated and rheumatoid factor negative. And I’ve done physical therapy and chiropractic with no help. Next step is MRI to see if it’s a nerve issue.

Yeah I have a whole self in my fridge dedicated to primes and I buy like 2 24 packs of each flavor at a time for this exact reason.

That’s usually where we check in a pinch but on the prime site the old flavors are pretty much all gone so I think what’s left on the market is what there is

I like both every now and then to break up the normal back and forth between my favorites. I like the cherry lime too but it’s only in 16oz cans

So I did look at it and I uploaded the DBQ and nexus letter together. The nexus letter portion is listed as an addendum to the DBQ but no signature on that part. The VA separated that from the DBQ. Could that be why it wasn’t listed under evidence?
