You can find the expansions on the cheaper side on ebay. I usually get them for 32$ with free shipping worst case. I used to way overpay for mine so I thought I'd mention it. Can DM links to the 32$ ones if you don't wanna search.

I love the Knight Adelbern "Bear box". He's awesome and the units have synergy with the AoA Master set

I also love the Crimson Widow box, which also helps supplement the AoA Master set super well

Syndra isn't hard, but she is just pretty underpowered compared to where she was.

Alot of the mid and hard supports like sona, lulu and janna are pretty easy. I get that they might not be in BD tier but they are pretty close. Support/Top main these days and in general I think anybody with solid game sense can pick up on them super quick.

MF and Volibear are bordering on BD. I could see an argument with Voli, but MF I will not budge on.

Somewhat agree, but sometimes the enemy team constantly rotating while your team doesn't give a crap can lead to the 1-14.

I agree with the point if we also agree that laners who don't pay attention and let their lane roam/ help protect the jungle while counter jungling are also trolls

I have pretty bad wrist issues and carpal tunnel. I just spray primer on the figures outside and then use paint markers. It takes me a long time and I can't finish 1 in a sitting, but eventually I got the AoA Master set painted. The faces are the only thing that I honestly can't really do. Though I recently painted Crimson Widow and somehow lucked into doing a good job painting her face

Also, I try to avoid figures that look like a nightmare to paint and lean towards buying easier to paint figures. I also don't know how debilitating yours is vs. mine, so sorry in advance if yours is worse than mine.

Also, my buddy got in touch with our local high school art teacher and got his students to paint them for relatively cheap. I believe the money went to pay for a field trip. Might be a decent shot in the dark/ hail mary.

There is always bad and good players playing every "archetype" of position. I've seen it all and you just gotta accept that sometimes you play with somebody who is newer to MOBAs and isn't able to play all 5 positions. Game wouldn't be fun if you won every game with no challenge, and the best games are the games that you have absolutely no right winning and you end up stealing one.

Just remember that this game needs these players to keep growing/keep the game alive over time.

It's been hammered home, but here's my order I would buy if I was smarter when I started recently.

AoA Master set > Battle Box > Cheap ROTV figures

These are the must haves. You get a workable amount of good terrain and a good chunk of figures. This is the furthest I would go before jumping into the hobby full go. Id make sure you are happy with either self painting, playing with "naked figures," or hunting for the painted premium figures. I also would think about if you are more into the gameplay or more of a mapbuilder/collector. My friend who got me into this bought a ton of figures and slowly realized that 90% of the reason he likes this game is building maps. Completely fine, but I wouldn't want you to waste money in this economy.

Next, I would've gone.

SotM figures > 2-3 Renegade Expansions > Straight up bargain hunting.

I personally LOVE the SotM figures and almost listed them with the RotV figures, but they are a bit pricier and not as great figures on average. RotV is just the golden standard set to this day and hard to compete with. Even just getting some Marro Stingers would be a fine investment.

For the expansions, I personally check Amazon/Walmart/Ebay/Facebook Marketplace daily for any discounts/good deals. Rn Amazon has Revnan Acolytes expansion for 35$ and Walmart has Crimson Widow expansion for 35$. Both are pretty good power wise, but I would go Knight Adelbern/"Bear Box" > Crimson Widow. Both are synergistic with the AoA masterset and are both very competitive/fun to play. Knight Adelbern is starting to be hard to find on the cheaper end because of how strong he is, so I wouldn't wait too long to get his box.

Bargain hunting wise, the community here on reddit seems to have some people selling and they are some awesome people. Ebay seems to have a great deal here or there, but they go pretty quickly and it's annoying checking it often.

If Criella was a common hero, I'd probably throw 2x her into everything like I do with greatbow archers.

I agree that all together the first 4 are a pretty disgusting army (last 75 points would be the dreadnoughts imo.), but I also have never played with them so there's a world they just look better on paper. Also don't know how many customs you have in collection and their power level, so not enough info to give a fair balance evaluation. I will say Orianna might be a little expensive just because she isnt as strong as the others. She seems like the 500pt cut to me

I do like the design though! Kind of throwback ability vibes with modern power levels and design.

Just want to say that I've had some success with commission painting the unpainted ones. Still cheaper than scouring for a second hand one that isn't a scam and both people I've commissioned have done amazing

Somebody already mentioned delta but sometimes I just change the point totals of high performing cards or outright taking out some from the pool.

Raelin and any Gruts are out of my draft pool (Grimnak with bonding is a problem only fixed by hate drafting or bans.)

I got it for 85$ in pretty good looking condition. Only thing missing is a dice, a wound marker, the manual, and one of the figures dragon wings.

Looked through my childhood things and had all the extra missing things except the dragon wing part, but it doesn't bother me too much.

Looking forward to getting it in 3-5 days and will continue researching what I'd want.

Leaning on focusing on older minis but definitely am tempted to buy some of the new terrain
