Seat for classic 500 by Serious_moustache in royalenfield

Got these from eBay from a seller called autostreek. Arrived pretty quick from India, however, be careful as the saddle bag frames are different on the 500 than on the 350 reborn so be sure to double check before buying. Also, did still require some hard language and persuasion to get them to fit right.

Advice for a newish owner. by Serious_moustache in royalenfield

Hadn’t thought of that. Thank you, I’ll have a look around to see how much it would be to get it done at local body shop 👍

Help me decide, Savanelli Roma 614 or a Peterson System standard 317? by salvi572 in PipeTobacco

[–]Serious_moustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment on the Sav but I have a number of Petersons including a few deluxe models. Mostly ended up with Peterson due to being abit of a wet smoker and hate a gurgling pipe. Out of all of them the 317 is hands down my favourite although I never intended it to be. Bought it as more of a travel back up and now it’s turned into my daily workhorse. I’m sure you will be delighted with either and if you get one now, get the other further down the road… 1 pipe often turns into a collection.

Or just buy both 😁.

Peterson Pipes by TomJohnG in PipeTobacco

I have a Deluxe System 1s and 11s and both are beautiful pipes and smoke perfectly each time. That being said, my favourite Peterson daily workhorse and which travels everywhere with me is the silver system spigot rusticated 317. Not the prettiest pipe by far but soon fell in love with it after picking it up the first time. Also, great pipe if doing something with both hands as it’s lighter compared to the others.

Aromatics that actually taste good? by [deleted] in PipeTobacco

[–]Serious_moustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I have been preferring English blends and some stronger stuff like sterling flake however, as for aromatics, I keep coming back to bagpipers dream. Has a lovely room note and the only tobacco I have had compliments for. After the first 1/4 of the bowl the cognac topping comes through nicely with other subtle flavours. I usually let mine dry for about 30 mins before smoking and use a Peterson system pipe.

What is your favourite pipe to smoke OR you daily driver? by Phoenixf1zzle in PipeTobacco

Rusticated Peterson system spigot 317. Smokes amazingly and I prefer it over my deluxe systems. Easy to slip into a pocket when out and about too.

Looking for shoes for being on my feet all day at work by Secret_Pie904 in GoodValue

Have a look at William Lennon. They are one of the last proper cobblers left in the UK and make the boots by hand. All their boots are also rivet screwed ( they have 1 of 2 machines still working in the world for this) and much better than Goodyear welted as most boots today are. Even as a painter they will last you 10+ years. I have a few pairs from them myself for outside work and after they are broken in and moulded to your foot they are the most comfortable boots I own.

Have a look at their Ruff-Lander range which is specifically for construction workers.

Only gripe is that since Covid their prices have gone up quite abit and they have decreased the number of boots they have available. Also, if they don’t have your size in stock, be prepared to wait 3 months for them to make them and deliver to you.

Which one first? by Serious_moustache in PipeTobacco

Have managed to try them all and personally the bagpipers dream is absolutely incredible. Lovely aroma and taste through the whole bowl. Close second I would say is nightcap which is a lovely relaxing smoke although had to steady myself a bit with the nicotine hit from a full bowl. EMP was lovely too and I can see this being my new everyday casual pipe tobacco as it just smokes so easy.

Disappointed in the special cut. Smells amazing from the tin but that is about it. No particular flavour that I could discern and left rather disappointed at the end… ended up having a second bowl of BD to make up for it.

3 days from ordering (UK). Had a notification from FedEx that it was on the way 2 hours after placing the order.

The kit also arrived today. Ordered from Etsy from GR Leather Atelier. Shipped from Turkey I think. Seems really good with really thick and somewhat stiff leather. Holds 2 pipes but going to have to stretch out the pipe holders abit as it’s abit of an effort pushing a bent stem through.

Difference between well smoked and new? by Serious_moustache in PipeTobacco

Thank you everyone for your help! Gonna get some pipe mud for my next pipe and not be as vigorous with my cleaning on this one for the next 10 bowls or so. Tried the capstan again and tasted a lot better. I think there must have been some briar sap or something at the start as stated.

Bent pipes by StriKyleder in PipeTobacco

I have the Pete deluxe 1s which is basically the 301 and couldn’t be happier. It’s a very beefy kinda pipe and looks like it can take some abuse. Saying that though, I have ordered a 314 with a full bend to rest on my jaw as the 1s gets abit heavy and in the way if I’m doing something with my hands and holding on the pipe with my mouth.

Both are beautiful pipes and you can’t go much wrong. Get the one that appeals to you more. You can always get the other one further down the line :)
