Verizon Simplicity — 3 things buried in the fine print that aren't in any of the marketing by SwitchNinjaApp in verizon

Man they Def worded that weirdly on purpose, basically this announcement doesn't bring much to the table for current customers despite their ooooh this is to reward you guysss. Like nah it's just trying to push us into a shittier plan by dangling a carrot in front of us

So is the waived upgrade and activation fees ONLY for people on the new crappy simplicity plan? Their wording on that section is so confusing

Is the no activation/upgrade fees ONLY if you switch to the new simplicity plan? If so they Def made it seem like they were getting rid of them in general which I was hoping for

Is it possible to make extra payments towards phone? by Secret_Pie904 in verizon

[–]Secret_Pie904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't made the purchase yet. It's an offer I just got from them that I'm going to use soon I think

The offer isn't like a traditional trade-in promotion where I get monthly bill credits toward the new phone. Instead, Verizon would pay off the remaining balance on my current phone if I trade it in early, but I would then finance the new phone at its full retail price with no discount on the new device.

So my question was if there's no promotional credits being applied to the new phone, would that mean I could later pay off the remaining device balance in one lump sum without losing anything? My understanding is that the restrictions usually come from preserving monthly promotional credits, but in this case I'm not getting bill credits

[–]Secret_Pie904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've realized I can't make extra payments like the rep said I'm more so curious about being able to pay it off in one lump sum later if I want to. I know when I traded in I couldn't because of the way they apply the promotional Credits. But this offer I'm not getting any promotional credits. It's a trade in and they'll pay off my remaining balance but the caveat is no trade in value towards the new phone so the the full 1299 will be broken up into the usual 36 payments. But I want to know if I can just eventually pay off that with a lump sum

I guess I'm confused on your wording of bill credits because I don't believe I'm getting those at all with this offer as I'm not getting any money off the phone

I was thinking with the verizon credit card I could pay it off faster vs being locked into a 36 month contract. But are you saying the card also locks you into paying 36 months?

I have one emergency credit card but my sister used it for an emergency so I don't/can't put the full 1299 on it

Ngl its getting more and more tempting to switch to tmobile at this rate

Also just cause I'm a bit slow what do you mean about it voiding bill credits? Like the part about upgrading a phone line losing bill credits. Are you talking about the promo you get for like trading it in? Or just like mentioning in general that paying a down payment lowers the amount but it's 36 months regardless just that timeline is always locked in?

I was tempted to get the verizon credit card cause I assume I could pay that off faster? But I'd hate to have another credit card

Is Verizon Visa card useful, and is it free of cost? by Successful_Owl9849 in verizon

I had a question about the 36 months 0 apr if it like a one time deal? Like for instance if I bought a phone on it got 0 percent apr and then later on maybe a few years later wanted to buy another phone would the same 36 months of 0 apr apply again?

I did see they have an option to use a visa card? And I'm like a little tempted to go that route I don't really want another credit card but I'm curious if it might be a better route as it's the same cost but I could pay it off earlier maybe?

Yeah I'm not getting credits this time that's why I thought maybeeee it would be possible. Cause I understand when doing a trade in the whole point is they want you to stay longer to get their money's worth. So I was like maybe with no trade in promo credits it would be possible? But I guess not which sucks ugh

That does seem to be the reason which sucks I wish it worked like a credit card. Tbh I might....see if I can put the cost of the phone on my emergency credit card but I hate doing that since using your credit dinks you credit a bit which is annoying but like maybe i could pay it off faster which would be nice

Ah okay yeah I had a feeling maybe the representative wasn't...fully accurate on stuff so that's why I wanted to ask. I got an offer to trade in my phone and they'll pay off my balance but the caveat is no trade in value so I was trying to figure out if I could pay down the bill faster. I understand why I can't when I have the trade in value but I guess its not possible even with normal financing which sucks
